Fenwick's anger burns as the mechanism simply sits there under his gaze. As if to make good on his threats, he takes another shaft out of its bearings and proceeds to execute corporal punishment on the delinquent machine part. After two or three strikes, the orc realizes that the corrosion is beginning to flake off, while the damage to the shaft remains minimal. Continuing with this method, Fenwick manages to clear the shaft of corrosion.

Huffing and puffing, Gensai finally hoists the barrel of oil to the top platform, where Sheng and Riardon are attempting to assemble the last pieces of the lighthouse beacon, "Now," Riardon instructs, "This diagram shows that the fineal you're holding should be placed between these two lens elements."

As the eladrin points to the proper location of the last component, his hand strikes on of the lenses, sending a truss bar clattering to the floor. The small metal connecting-rod skitters across the pavers and falls down the trap-door to the floor below hiding itself in the complexity of the mechanism that Fenwick has just finished repairing.[sblock=Map for Riardon and Fenwick]

Sheng raises an eyebrow as Riadron has to go down for the piece that he accidentally threw away. He adds to Genasi in jadite "After the fool comes back with the missing part, I can set the oil alight with arcane Fire; just place it in the brazier while I finish these repairs." Lifting his now glowing hands, Sheng releases the mystical green vapours from them. He waves his hands now as if pulling strings; while the gas penetrates the mechanism, and starts to move pieces in place and repair the cracks.

I got a 19, 7+10+2. If it's a 20 (by spending a HS) would it be a success? Also I rolled a natural 20 on the last skill roll, but it lists 3 points, when I should have done 4. What do I get for the roll? it states healing surge/AP/treasure parcel as appropriate

Gensai tries to recall in his youth how his father would refill oil lanterns. But as he remembered, he was distracted by other memories, and spilled as much oil on the floor as made it into the brazier.

GM: Sorry Voda Vosa. I got your crit confused with Tenchuu's Crit on the task check (which doesn't produce the miracle effect), but yours should have. I've retconned your results. Your wishlist looks out of date for a character at your level. Update it, and I'll put in somehting appropriate, treasurewise, at the next round's update along with whatever Walking Dad gets. Let me know if you'd rather have the HS or AP ;).

All: Sheng's point changes things. You are now at a +2 bonus to rolls in addition to your individual bonuses (Sheng's extra round point put you in the next bracket).

As for your 19, you might as well not spend the HS. At a 19, you get 1 round point and -1 on your next roll. You don't get 2 round points unless you roll a 23-27.

Tenchuu's HS expendature, however is useful ;).

OOC: I would really like an upgrade to Riardon's Amulet of Life. It is only +1. Maybe some kind of modular attachment fluff-wise. If something new, I would take a Periapt of Cascading Health.
 



OOC: VV & WD: I'm going to put your awarded treasure in the fluff at the end of the skill challenge. It will go more seemlessly into the story that way. As it stands, Riardon will get the upgrade to the Amulet of Life, and Sheng will get the Elemental Twist Dagger +2
Riardon spots the part that fell from the top floor into the mechanism, but as Fenwick tries to dislodge it, other parts start to jam. The orc looks annoyedly at the eladrin as he repairs the damage.

Hurrying back to the top floor, Riardon nearly slips on the oil that Gensai has spilled, but manages to hand the truss bar to Sheng without dropping it.

Things are beginning to come together, and it doesn't seem like it will be long before the beacon is blazing and turning.

As Sheng finishes his repairs on the glass, Riardon's keen ears, detect a noise coming from below. At first he thinks that the noise is the result of Fenwick's repair efforts, but soon it becomes apparent that the noises are coming from outside the keep, where they left Hankel and Tik-Chik.
