[Adventure] Lost Love (DM: Velmont - Judge: Renau1g)

Coup de Grace

Sometimes, you have the opportunity to attack a foe who is completely defenseless. It’s not chivalrous to do so, but it is viciously effective. This action is known as a coup de grace.

[sblock=Thoughts]I highlighted the part I find interesting. I can't argue with R1 ruling the RAW, however, basd on RAI, I would think an angry warforged standing over the body ready to smash peoples faces in would definately make the body nolonger count as defenseless... Either way, the ruling has been handed down, sorry Twils :( [/sblock]

Unit 16 watches in horror as his companion is brutally murdered. "Trapped, surrounded, and newly unemployed, you risked further pain to attack the one thing in the room that was no longer a threat?" he yells incredulously to the prone swordsman. Unit 16 leans in closer to the guard on the floor and whispers, "I am going to kill your family."

Rising back up and seeing the look of horror on Talkrai's face, he thinks in her direction: I would not. But I wish that to be the last thing he ever hears.

With that, he shifts between the two guards again and pummels the one on the floor relentlessly, aiming to cripple his legs.

The swordman block the blow and laugh. "Empty threat."

[sblock=OOC]No worries guys. Wether Pis is brought back or I end up with a new PC, I still get to RP with y'all, which is what counts in the end. You're awesome.

Is there a convenient place to discuss party comp? I'd rather not thread-jack the adventure.[/sblock]

Ryda’s joy over the gnomes demise is short lived as she hears the squelch of a sword entering Pis’ throat. At the swordsman’s snarky remark, Ryda’s anger flares white hot as she rains arrows into the closest swordsman. She doesn’t even realize the effects of her shots as she drives herself forward, blood crazed grimace etched across her face.

[sblock=Mechanics]Standard: Cut and Run: 1d20+12=23 1d12+10=21 1d20+12=32 1d12+10=11 1d6=1 Crit and hit to AC 23. Crit dice: 2d6=7 So 51 damage if AC 23 hits, 30 damage if it does not. Move to C34 to Flank for Talkrai. Ready Yield Ground if I get hit, shift her back across the bridge.[/sblock]

I suggest here, as any other OOC question. [/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]So Ryda killed the swordsman at B34, correct? (Do you still want to end your movement there, since you'd know he was dead before you moved?)

Also the map linked from 2:10 yesterday doesn't reflect the gnome being dead or 16's shift (or Jasper, if we're blinking things off the map when they die).[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Yes, her noted location is fine, Talkrai can move around to get into a position on the remaining swordsman, no need to block a spot she may want to go. Besides, Ryda's not thinking clearly, so tactics aren't at the front of her mind :) [/sblock]

[sblock=16's threat]First off, apologies to LadyLaw for making your character act on my behalf. :) I needed someone to react so that I could let folks know 16 hadn't actually gone insane, and since he can talk to Talkrai without opening his mouth, it seemed like the best fit. (Plus, she was right there and could here the whisper.)

Second, since the guard's default response is apparently snark, I'm going to go ahead and roll a bluff check, just to see how appropriate that response is! So take THAT!

And of course, in true form, I got a total of 10 (unless there's some situational modifiers?) - but it's an opposed check, so I could still fool 'em if he rolled badly on an insight... Velmont, do you mind? At least then the snark would be justified.[/sblock]
