Kathalia, more frustrated than afraid, tries one more time to hit the massive beast . She pulls her pale little hand back, lines up the pitifully small arrow, and releases. The arrow outlines a perfect arc through the sky and plows into the dragon. A perfect shot! (OOC: Ranged basic CRITS for 14 damage. Woot!)

She drops her bow and lets out a triumphant whoop, which slowly transforms into a howl as her body takes the form of a feral wolf (Wild Shape). Her body quivers in anticipation of the battle continued (OOC Fleet Pursuit - speed 12 while in beast form until end of encounter)

// Tactics - Kathalia has an encounter power that can daze on a hit - hopefully she can use it (with elven accuracy if necessary) at exactly the right moment

//Hee-hee! That banjo did 15 points of damage!//
[sblock=OOC]My remaining twin strikes will only do 22 on crit. I think Mikara's going to trade in her bow for a hertie gertie... or maybe, if things get really desperate ...an ACCORDION!

There's a picture to make your eyes cross: an elf playing an accordion :erm:.

Wait... I forgot HQ damage. That means 30 on a crit. OK. There's still hope for the bow.[/sblock]

“I’ll take it for walks in the park, let it eat other people’s dogs, mark off territory for a new lair... Hmm, I wonder if that part would also be acidic? Ooh, corroding trees would really – appropriately so – piss off the local gardeners!”

Though Woe is half-caught up in fantasies of picking up girls for a cruise on his new shiny dragon, he doesn’t fail to notice how his comrades are rapidly clustering up for an inviting blast of acid. Somehow, a nagging feeling grows on him to do something about it.

"I'm really not that good at this long distance stuff," he comments as he bounds closer to Woe. "Are we going to get up close and personal with this beastie sometime?" he asks the warrior, an eager smile on his face.
“Beasts, dragons, dames... Getting up close and personal is all I ever do!”

Woe grins and moves in to get a more solid slice of the action, while tossing his javelin carelessly over his back to replace it with his phallus-choice-of-arms. The Skyborn merc takes up position to cut the dragon off from closing on his friends, ready to leap in and knock it out of the sky. Alas, he is still too distracted about exploiting the dragon's potential.

Move: To K18.
Free: Drop javelin
Minor: Draw spear.
Standard: Ready to charge dragon with Knockdown Assault when it gets in range, hitting Fort 15 for 4 damage and knocking it prone.

Damn. At least it’ll still be marked and unable to get into a favourable position.

Not that I'm complaining about the 4hp per hit, but we're being attacked by a DRAGON, and you're PLAYING THE f#@%ing BANJO!!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!? :confused::erm::eek::mad::rant::(:.-(
Speaking from experience, defeating dragons with music is sound strategy. ;)

Atreus moves to circle around the Dragon, so that he might flank with Woe or Tristan and drops his crossbow, exchanging it with his axe.

[sblock=Actions]
Move + Standard Action: Move into position to flank the dragon with Woe or Tristan. If he doesn't have enough movement for a double move, he runs.
Free Action: Shrouds the Dragon
Minor: Pulls Axe forth
To Covaithe: I forgot to note that I got 3 temp. HP when I hit the dragon.

OOC: Yes it was my turn ;)

Round 4

Mikara and Kathalia sink a trio of arrows deep into the dragon, finding weak spots in its hide and causing it to bellow in fury.

Hacker's banjo plays an inspiring melody, filling his friends with courage and sapping the dragon's will.

Tristan directs a ray of divine sanction towards the dragon, but his heart is not in it, distracted as he is by the thought of close combat with such a beast.

Woe and Atreus circle closer, readying themselves.

The dragon, its wings catching the air strongly now, flies over Woe's head toward the archer who has been giving it so much trouble. Unable to reach Mikara, it settles for a swipe at Tristan, but the wary elf dodges the blow. Woe looks eagerly for an opening, but the dragon is too high, out of his reach. Atreus moves in to circle behind the dragon, taking note of its weak spots again.

Then, before anyone can react further, the dragon makes a horrible gargling, coughing sound, and sprays a blast of greenish fluid directly into Tristan and Mikara's faces! The fluid is caustic, burning them badly, and must have some magical property as well, since they find their legs unable to move. The dragon spreads its wings, roaring in triumph and flexing its claws, and a wave of magical fear rolls off of it, freezing everyone nearby in place except for Atreus.

[sblock=ooc]Mikara hits for 40. Ouch!

Hacker lands stirring shout, 15 damage and when you hit the dragon, regain 4 hp.

Tristan misses.

Kathalia crits for 14 damage and wild shapes.

Woe moves forward and readies a charge w/knockdown assault. Note the dragon is still flying above reach.

Atreus moves toward the dragon and then... readies a move action to try to flank, when the dragon goes into melee. (That's the closest I can get to interpreting your actions, given that the dragon is nowhere near flanking position with anyone at the time this happens.)

The dragon flies over Woe and charges Tristan. It has reach 2, and Tristan is nominally 2 squares tall, so it can attack Tristan from 3 squares above ground. Which means it's not within Woe's reach. The bad news is, his readied attack doesn't fire, so the dragon isn't marked. The good news is, Knockdown assault isn't expended. 15 vs. AC misses Tristan.

I've moved Atreus in to what would be close to a flanking position if the dragon were on the ground. Not sure that expresses your intent well, but, well, this fight is moving pretty quickly and I don't want to slow it down for a back-and-forth to clarify. :(

It spends an AP to use its breath weapon, catching Tristan and Mikara. Ouch, double crit! They both take 13 acid damage, 5 ongoing acid damage, and are immobilized (save ends both).

It spends a second AP to use frightful presence. Burst 5 catches everyone except Kathalia; hits everyone except Atreus. (Another crit on Mikara; is 3 crits in one round a record of some kind?) So Woe, Tristan, Hacker, and Mikara are stunned (tent dragon) and will take -2 to attacks thereafter (save ends)

Kathalia and Atreus are up. Keep in mind the dragon is 15 feet in the air. Also, please note the dragon's Aura of Terror, detailed in the stats below.

The hill near T30 is low, only 5' higher at the top than at the bottom. It could theoretically give cover or possibly improved cover in the right circumstances.

The cactus takes up all of the square that its trunk is in; it can be used for cover or improved cover like any tree.

The rock in M5-N7 is about 3 feet high, and can provide cover.

[sblock= To Covaithe]
Sorry about that Covaithe, I misinterpret some of the others action and I have no quarrels with where you put me.

Now to the question, would I be able to run towards Woe make an acrobatics check, use him as a stepladder, then jump towards the dragon and be in range to use one of my ranged attacks, executioners noose ( Range 5). Or be able to grab the dragons leg to force it down to the ground?

Or would I be able to fetch some rope from my bag, make a lasso out of it and attempt to capture/pull down the dragon. What sort of rolls would be involved?
