(Adventure) Rivenblight's Castaway [Creamsteak judging]

Velbrik says, "I agree." He finishes his meal and continues, "I'll go inquire now." Glancing around at the campfires and other wagons, Velbrik says, "Why don't you fellows start setting up a campfire while I'm inside? That seems to be the usual procedure. Though if you'd rather, I suppose we could get an inn-room." He reaches into one of the pouches on his left hip and draws out a few gold coins. "I'll pay for it, if you'd rather do that, since you fellows were a bit short of cash, if I remember correctly." He hands the coins to anyone who'll accept them.

Seeming a bit worn-out from the days' events, Velbrik makes a motion as if he was tipping his hat, then stands, brushes himself off, and proceeds into the old building. He approaches the inn-keeper, and introduces himself. "Hail, friend inn-keeper. I am Velbrik, historian and bard. I've been serving as a caravan guard for the merchant Tylkin up until this night, along with Ioleta von Gerrich and Jaan Saaresar, who are eating outside right now, and also Troi Delmontes. During our trip up here, through the forest path from Orussus, we caught sight of several bandits scoping out our wagon. Troi dropped back to get a better vantage point, promising to return within a short time. Unfortunately, he has yet to return. He is a skilled tracker, and it is unlikely that he had simply gotten lost. We've been discussing the matter, and were rather hoping that you'd know someone with the skills to be able to find him, perhaps a ranger. We'll probably be able to pay whatever the going rate might be. Do you know such a person?"

If you buy an inn room, I'll just subtract the money from my sheet. Also, er, I forgot who Rown and Kiel are.

So long as the weather is fine, Jaan agrees to camping by the wagon. Jaan will accept his share of the coin from Tylkin, but declines anything more.

Rown and Kiel are the caravan guards you met a few days ago. The weather is fine, although it will be chilly if any of you lack proper bedding and a fire.

A response to Velbrik's question is pending. I'm attempting to see if I can help reduce the PC glut at the tavern by having of them be here rather than there, so we'll see how that works out.

Ioleta idly rubs the donkey down casting frequent glances down the forest trail. More than once she is lashed by the donkey's switching tail and gasps, startled each time. She ties the creature to a hitching post and looks at Jaan, "So, did I do that all okay?" She looks at the donkey, "Even if I did, you should probably look at him... he had a long day."

"Thank you," she takes the bowl of soup and sits, cross-legged on the ground. She stands and stretches her back, frequently making rounds of the wagon and going as far from the camp as she dares toward the forest.

I hope Velbrik and Jaan can find a tracker...

I done recruited Garret Tealeaf, played by Ottakun, to be your tracker. Here goes.

The neatly dressed, well preserved halfling shrugs once he gets a moment to devote to you, although he frowns in concern. "That sounds right worrying, doesn't it? People come and go, but no one springs to mind. Ask around some. I'm sorry I can't help more." A few bar stools away, a slightly overtall halfling overhears a conversation promising adventure and, perhaps, money....

After hearing about the missing tracker, Garret cannot help but move towards the bard and offer his help.

"Hello, my name is Garret Tealeaft and I'm a tracker myself. I'd like to help you find this missing ranger you mentioned"

Waiting for an answer from the bard, Garret wondered as well what bandits might he had been referring to.

I'll have to ask him that next He thought

Velbrik nods in thanks to the innkeeper, then turns toward Garret. "Ah, excellent. Have you had much experience? What would be your fees; or perhaps you would merely prefer a share of the loot should we run into a wealthy bandit or two?"

"Looting bandits sounds much better than chargin' a fee like a mercenary, especially if it is to find another ranger. So if that suits you I'm more than ok with it.

On the experience issue I won't lie to you, I'm no master ranger, so don't expect me to find someone who has been lost for weeks, but my skills aren't nothing to disregard either. I'm quite proud in my ability to remain unnoticed and strike from afar ... something that will come in handy if you are havin' bandit troubles.

For how long has your tracker been missing? The sooner I get to the last place you saw him, the better.

I wonder if they sell arrows in here? It seems I've run out of them already Garret bashed himself mentally as he checked his equipment, indeed, he didn't have any arrows with him at the moment.

"He went to go scout around earlier today," says Velbrik. "We expected him to be back within an hour or so, and certainly by the time we exited the forest. I know him fairly well, and it's unlikely he would abandon a job midway or simply become lost. There are some other things I must tell you, but first I feel I ought to introduce you to Ioleta and Jaan." He gestures towards the door. "After you, ranger."
