(Adventure) Rivenblight's Castaway [Creamsteak judging]

The door to the tavern clunks shut and Ioleta glances up. At first she doesn't see the man following Velbrik, but she cocks her head, puzzled, as Velbrik's head inclines and mouth moves clearly in conversation. She moves around the wagon to get a better view and spies the halfling gent with a decidedly woodsy look about him. She breaths a sigh of relief and gives Jaan's arm a brief squeeze as the two others approach the wagon. She flashes a small, bright smile at the knight and looks back to Velbrik and the halfling.

Signaling the wagon, Garret inquires to Velbrik
"Your friends I guess?"

"The tracks of your friend must still be fresh, so we shouldn't waste time here. I'd like to buy some arrows though, since I'm out of them. Is there any weapon store near here? If not, the lets start moving right away, we can talk while moving"

Velbrik nods when they reach the wagon. "Ioleta, Jaan," he says, gesturing to each. He tries to keep his voice down as he speaks, so as not to disturb the other guards preparing for a night's sleep, "This is Garret Tealeaf. As he said, he's volunteered to give us a hand." Addressing Garret, he continues, "We were actually thinking to rest tonight, as we've spent the day traveling through the forest, and there might still be a small chance that Troi returns."

He taps his chin thoughtfully. "I don't think there are arrows for sale around here, though you might get lucky; I don't know. I am also an archer, however, and it might be easier if I just lent you some of mine." He retrieves a half-dozen arrows from his belt quiver. "Will these be sufficient? I only have twenty myself, plus twenty cold iron, which are a bit more expensive, though we could use them in a pinch, and twenty silver, which are not only more expensive, but also less effective."

"Well, I guess you might be tired from the trip. How many hours walk is the place you last saw him from here? If it's too far I'd say that we should go and look for him right now, after all, we have to fear the wrost, and if he was captured by this bandits, he might be in danger as we speak"

If it's less than half a day of distance, we should get as soon as the first ray of light appears in the horizon, as tracking him with no light would only make things more difficult, not to mention that having you fatigued would also be a problem."

"Two or three hours, I'd guess." Velbrik gestures with the hand holding the arrows. "Did you want these?"

"I guess we should rest here for the night then."

Looking at the arrows, he checks they are suitable for his bow and agrees to take them. "Yes, these would do nicely, thanks"

Then, and as a sidethought, he approaches Velbrik

"You guys should go to rest now then, and if you are not tired enough I'd like to have some information on the route you took to get here. I've heard that bards have acute memories, and I'm a good mapmaker. These might come handy afterwards"

Jaan smiles in return at Ioleta as he notices what caused her to squeeze his arm.

He nods his greeting to the newcomer as Velbrik introduces him. As Velbrik has it well in hand Jaan leaves him to do all the talking unless addressed. Tiredness is starting to weigh on him and having the middle watch is not going to help matters much.

"I'm going to get some sleep now. We should leave as soon as its light enough to see where our feet are going, I think."

With that he sets about setting up his bedroll and blanket beside the fire (assuming we have made one - if not he'll do that first.)

ooc: Hey Otakun. Welcome aboard.

BTW. Any chance of changing the coloured text - the light blue is almost invisible, even when highlighted. the head of the dog.

OOC: Thanks for the welcome. On the color issue, no prob, I'll just stick with ""s for speaking and italic for thoughts

Velbrik nods. "Actually, the route was fairly simple. There's a cleared trail, which we followed all the way through, since that's the only way the wagon could make it through from Orussus. The entire trail through the forest is about seventeen miles long; we spent the entire day within the forest, before we began to spot people scouting out our wagon. I dropped back and begin to look around, using a bit of magic to stay in touch with the others, but I lack the skills necessary to follow the bandits through the forest, so I returned after finding nothing. Troi went into the forest, and for about a half-hour, we could communicate with him using my magic, but eventually he had to go too far, for too long, to follow the tracks he'd discovered. We haven't seen him since. I can probably show you roughly where he left the wagon to go scouting."

" I see. Hopefully it won't be too hard to find your friend then. Let's get some sleep and hope for the best. As soon as the sun rises we'll get moving."
