Ioleta watches silently, her eyes wide and darting to catch a glimpse of Troi or bandits. She stays near the back mostly, trying to stay out of Garret's way. As night sets in, and chill, she huddles in her cloak, thrusting her hands deep into pockets. She toys with a metal trinket in her pocket for a while before drawing it out and rushing over to Velbrik. "Wait, Velbrik. You said we didn't have a plan, well. We didn't." She lowers her voice and crowds near Velbrik and Jaan, "But Troi does know to listen for this whistle." She opens her palm and the whistle that they'd used for watches gleams in the shadows under the trees. Her eyes are bright, hopeful. She looks from Velbrik to Jaan. Jaan to Velbrik. Her wilting wreath of flowers droops and she idly pushes it back onto her brow.

Velbrik scratches his right temple briefly before saying, "I'd still rather follow the heavy tracks to the west, but I'll concede to the majority." He gestures toward Troi's northern trail.

He uses a finger to soothe a tic under his eye that had developed from lack of (or poor quality of) sleep. He continues wearily, "Do you think he'll remember? We could give it a shot - but bandits are at least as likely to hear it and respond as Troi is. Though it might be better to use the whistle in the morning, when we'll be well-rested and still for an hour or so, and anyone who hears can find us, and anyone who finds us, should it be bandits, can be more easily dealt with."

The trail heads north for some small measure before it turns abruptly towards Orussus, and then a short distance later it turns back towards the road. You've been in the forest some 5 and three quarter hours- more than half the day. You figure you're about four tenths of a mile away from the road. As it currently stands, Garret is still going strong, despite the fact that the Halfling has been working all day. Velbrik is likewise just fine, but both Jaan and Ioleta have begun to flag a little. The light is starting to fade.

OK, I had the distances and times confused somewhat in my head, but I’ve got them worked out now and on paper. If you want a detailed explanation, I can give it to you, but the upshot is that Garret has been “at work” the whole time you’ve been out (11 hours and 15 minutes), Jaan has worked one hour less (standing around when Garret searched the first time, 10 hours and 15 minutes, failed his second Con check), and Velbrik and Ioleta least of all (9 hours and 15 minutes, succeeding and failing at the first Con check, respectively.)

Jaan and Ioleta have both taken 1 point of subdual damage and are both fatigued.

Garret Tealeaf

OOC: Yay for me, I'm amazed at little Garret so far :)

Following the trail had proven a tough challenge for the halfling ranger, and even though his legs still were able to keep going, his mind was starting to falter. Taking a quick look at those with him, he quickly recognized the symptoms of fatigue in two of them and decided that they were done for the day. Not onlythey were fatigued already, but the night was already close and they still needed to find a suitable place to rest during the night.

"I think this is as far as we should push it for today. Let's find a good place to rest and we can continue tomorrow as soon as the sun comes up. What do you think?"

Something I forgot to mention- Track allows you to track for 1 mile per track check, and you still have a little ways of the last check to go. It would get you pretty close to the road and take 45 more minutes, which means one more Con check all around.
