[Adventure]: Shards of Eldanarth (DM: MadAzolin, Judge: ??)

Bleeding from many wounds, patches of its feathered hide pierced, charred and rotten, Owlbear hunter hoots its fury, attempting to batter down mental defenses of his prey. As if awaiting for attack, silvery radiance around Cry and Vermithrax grows in intensity, seemingly deflecting all harm, but Jade and Martelai's shadow are not so fortunate - fey beast whimpers for a moment and moves away from the monster and shadow is dissolved into pool of darkness.
Seeing that foes still stand before it, wounded Owlbear inhales deeply and releases thunderous hoot, uprooting grass, scattering leaves around it and forming visible shockwave of compressed air and thunder. Shockwave washes over Cyr, Vermithrax, Kane and Jade.
Cyr, Vermithrax and Jade brace for impact and seemingly suffer little harm from attack, but Kane, obviously distracted by attack of other owl-beast is hit squarely in the back and shockwave picks him and up and hurls him head over heels.

[sblock=OOC] Sigh. I would have been able to teleport H1 over to the others if someone had risked taking an atk and not cleared a direct line of atk to Kane, as happened.

The longsword that teleports is Kane's old +1 longsword. I could sheath and draw I guess. I will have a look.

Owlbear Madowl continues its alluring hoot, drawing gazes of Vermithrax and Cyr toward it. It rises its talons and attacks nearest source of dinner, targeting wounded owlbear hunter beside it. Monster avoids single swipe, but other catches it across the back, carving deep wounds. Monster retaliates, striking madowl twice, one of hits leaving serious rake across the Madowl.

I know the system fairly well, a downside of playing with other DMs. I guess I am feeling somewhat frustrated that no one else was hit this round other than Kane who received 2 critical hits (without being able to see the dice), one from a power that seems altered to gain a range just big enough to include Kane.

I am aware the Dimensional Vortex only triggers when an ally is hit. [/sblock]
 

Gratified that the Owlbears clawed each other, Lilli re-asserts her will over the Owlbear's minds to distract them again; suddenly they find multiple images of their prey overwhelming their senses. Will it be enough of a distraction to make them miss Lilli's companions?

The gaze of Lerrick radiant silver eyes is still lock on Cyr and Vermetrax, providing much needed defensive support as they two are so close to the enemies. Knowing that Kane was hit badly she turns her head slightly so that to see him out of the corner of her eye. Mumbling a prayer and pointing her right hand in the direction of the wounded comrade, Lerrick unleashes a torrent of soothing healing warmth into the body of Kane. She then takes a step back away from the fey beasts and reverts her full attention to Cyr, Vermetrax and the Jade beast

He removes a gauntlet from his hand and leaves it hanging in the air. Wriggling his fingers experimentally, gauntlet mirrors the movement, he nods and sends it away

Quick radiant lines spread across battlefield. Gesturing with his staff, the invoker widens the grid as faint outlines of chess board and figures overlie the combatants. Somehow, madowl and it's companions are black king and two pawns, slow and weak, while Cyr as white king moves rooks, queen and hunters avoiding the reactive hoot of the wounded predators.

Cyr has no such luck as the price for the power to move everyone and direct the battlefield is his own concentration and immobility.

"We have them now. When the remaining one approaches, hit them with everything you got, they'll be close."
