(Adventure) The Burning Tower (Knight Otu Judging) [Concluded]

Fant disperses the group to quickly explore, with priority on finding a way up to the top of the tower and any notes on what experiments might have been in progress.

Persephone

After the armor's have been disabled or destroyed, persephone congratulates the party. "Good job everyone." To Fant she gives a quick hug. "You're awesome, girlfriend!"

Persephone will leaf through the scrolls and books, hoping she'll recognizes something. (Though perhaps unlikely, Knowledge Arcana 0, Spellcraft +3).
She then returns to the picture in the front room, presumable of the wizard. She stands in front of it for a long time, studying it intently. She tries to determine approximate height, as well as commit his features to her memory.

Fant is slightly discombobulated by both Persephone's terminology and her display of physical affection. She sfotly says "Thank you, your majesty," and gets back to organizing the search. "Ishmael, can you deal with Morulas's wounds?"

Ishmael peered at the halberd, appraising it for its quality and craftsmanship. He loosed his shield and called upon his sorcerous talent for insight (Arcane Spell Failure 10%). Chanting firmly in Draconic and gesturing with mailed arms, he attempted to divine whether it had a magick aura or not. He likewise scanned the room for magick auras (though he could not tell at all what school they came from if he found any).

ooc: I'm not sure whether its a craft check or an appraise check. But as a Deep Halfling I have a +2 to appraise metal/stone related items (total +3 with int). Is it Masterwork?

After determining whether it was fitting to call attention to the halberd or anything else, Ishmael joined Persephone in her examination of the books and scrolls. He used the various bits of arcane lore he learned from his Order's Library as well as the other libraries he's gone through. (Know: Arcana +6)

When he was done with these, he simply joined Fant. He either reported to her and to Persephone his findings (since they seemed to be the highest in rank), or he just awaited further orders.

Nars begins looking over the study. He searches the desk drawers first for traps, then false bottoms, hoping to learn a bit about the nature of the experiments. Any arcane texts will be given to Persephone for examination.

He also examines the architecture of the building both for pleasure and in an attempt to notice any places where the floor plan does not seem to match the outside appearance of the tower, hoping this could be a clue to a secret door.

If there are no obvious methods of ascending the tower, he begins tapping different wall sections hoping to find a hollow sound. He leaves the arcane items for those with more expertise in that area. If nothing of note is found in the study, he will move on an follow the same procedure in the kitchen.

OOC: Search +6, Spot +4, Listen +4, Open Lock +7, Knowledge (Architecture & Engineering +6)

"I think the first blaze is quenched." Morulas remarks sarcastically while he examins the cuts and bloodstains on his clothing.

Winceing, he heads to the kitchen, hoping to find something useful to mend his shirt or clean the halbeards slash (boiled water at least).
Ruffed up from wrestling with the Guardian, he also carefully grooms his hair into a flawless braid again while purposefully rummaging the wizards kitchen.

Ooc 1: Thorough search of the Kitchen [Search +6 / Listen & Spot +5].
As always, an elf who merely passes within 5 feet of a secret or concealed door is entitled to a Search check to notice it as if she were actively looking for it, so he might stumble upon it while looking for a clean towel.
Also Morulas has the Track feat, incase theres some footprint in spilled flour or some similar oddity (unlikely, I know).

Ooc 2: Is the butler-puppet still wailing away its alarm?

With the kitchen and study revealed, the group has explored about 3/4 of the first floor. Doors in the study and kitchen lead on about the circle, possibly to different sides of the same room.

Nars locates a locked wall safe in the study.

The kitchen appears to contain little of interest, unless you determine some need for cookware or food. If you would like, you could put together a sandwich or even a hot meal. An ice box appears to be magically chilled, but it's not portable.

Ishmael is convinced that the halberds and armor are indeed masterwork. Interestingly, while the bound armor gives off an aura of magic, the other three pieces do not. The armor that you "killed" is somewhat the worse for wear, but an armorsmith (or a make whole spell) could set that right.

The potions and scrolls are neatly labeled. There are potions of blur, bull's strength, cat's grace, and fox's cunning. The scrolls are fireball, magic missile (caster level 3), and haste.

The puppet is now disconsolately moaning its alarm, rather than wailing.

Rodimus retrieves his items (staff and backpack) and frowns a bit at having to leave good rope like that. Maybe the wizard will come to stop the armor so he can retrieve it. He then goes to the kitchen and gets something to drink, obviously not taking anything that looks poisoned.

As long as there is time, Nars examines the lock on the wall safe looking for any traps. He also inspects the craftsmanship. He longs to try opening it, not to get what's inside, but for the challenge of solving the puzzle. However, he will not attempt to open it or disable any of the traps unless someone has a legitimate reason why it would need to be opened.

Rodimus finds a refreshin drink, and suffers no ill effects.

Nars is unable to find any traps on the safe, but the lock is quite good.
