(Adventure) The Burning Tower (Knight Otu Judging) [Concluded]

"This place gives me the willies. It doesn't look like we would last long in there with all that smoke. I'll take a look around the rest of the room. Keep alert in case one of us stumbles upon some more of those invisible glyphs."

Did something just slide up against the shield, squirming on the inside? It was gone in the blink of an eye, but it looked... denser than the smoke around it.

Persephone

Persephone looks at the spellbook blankly.

"Honestly," she shakes her head and waves dismissively at the book. "I don't know much about these things. I don't use them. Py-ro-Kin-etics. What's that?"

"Anyway. It looks like he would sit here and practice, perhaps, casting spells inside that barrier. He evidently cast a spell causing the smoke. But then vanished. And where else would he be than in there?" She wrinkles her pert little nose. "You don't think he summoned some ugly monster do you? Maybe he did and it grabbed him and pulled him in there."

Perephone's eyes narrow as the shape flashes inside. She glances around the virtually empty room. "I can move small objects magically. I could, say, lift a torch and move it in there without actually going in there myself. Perhaps anything that goes in wouldn't come out. But could it help to dump a waterskin in there?"

'Something or someone is indeed trapped in there.' Morulas gasps.

The spellbook forgotten, the elf strides over to stand infront of the barrier, peering inside with his blue-and-silver eyes. ((Spot+5 / Search+6))

'If this is indeed Rilithorne trapped in his own ward, he might help us undo the blaze if we manage to get him out.' the Ranger exclaims hopefully.

Bringing the halberd around in a slow circle, ready to be used either as a lifeline into the haze or a weapon against anything that comes out, Morulas steps even closer.. his face no more than a hands width from the luminous barrier.

"Careful, Morulas..." says Fant. "Gorefoot, stick next to him and make sure nothing grabs him. The rest of you, make a quick search." She drums her fingers thoughtfully againt her armor, clankclankclankclankclank, clankclankclankclankclank. She approaches the barrier herself, drawing her sword again.

"Persephone, why don't you see what happens when you stick and object half in using that trick of yours."

Gorefoot - Gnome Barbarian 1

Gorefoot steps over to cover Morulas in case anything tries to grab him. "We should still try to put out the fire." He mumbles queitly.

Persephone

Persephone pulls out her dagger. Holding it out gently in her left hand, she chants softly and points her right index finger at it. Slowly, it rises from her hand and floats into the barrier. She tries to stop it halfway through and then withdraw it.

OOC: Mage hand. lifts up to 5 lbs, move up to 15 feet /round.

Experimenting with Mage Hand

The dagger floats gently into the field, propelled by magic and guided by Persephone's will. On closer study, it seems that the field wraps around the dagger as it is held in place inside the field. Trying to withdraw the dagger, Persephone feels as if she is trying to pull it through a stone wall. She frowns in effort, but before she gives the task up as impossible an unexpected and violent event takes place: something comes bursting through the opaque smoke and smashes into the field where the dagger is suspended in it. The field deflects it, and the assailant doesn't manage to even come into contact with the dagger, but the assault was frightening in its sudden violence. The creature seemed much like smoke itself, but with sparks flashing in various places around its smoky form. As suddenly as it attacked, it retreats into the opaque noxious smoke, disapearing from view.

Persephone

"EEEK!" shrieks Persephone. "There is something in there! For whatever reason, the mage may have gone in there, and that...thing probably got him!"

Persephone will try to pull the dagger our again, but since she can only apply 5 pounds of pressure, it seems unlikely she would be able to. If she can't, she'll continue to push it in, then leave it with its pommel against the field, and its point directly into the center, vaguely hoping the creature will try to attack again and imale itself.

Persephone gives the dagger a slight push forward, trying to tempt the unknown monster into stabbing itself. It's extremely hard to judge where exactly the field begins and ends, and persephone finds that even that slight push places the dagger inside the field completely. With the field between Persephone and the dagger, she loses line of effect, and the dagger falls to the floor amidst the smoke, quickly disapearing from view.
