renau1g said:"Hmmm...perhaps you can provide some more information on exactly what help we can provide. Our source was a bit.... light on details" the half-elf says with a smile, nudging her fellow Lyrandar as well, knowing she's likely stronger with her words than Thalen
Roswyn scowls at the goliath, but then sobers. "Right. Death sentence. All right, 'Krathak En Morthon' it is... hmph. 'Never fear, Krathak En Morthon is here' doesn't have quite the same ring to it..."
Roswyn picks up Thalen's cue. "Yes, your, um, call for help. It got a bit, uh, mangled in transit. Can you bring us up to speed on the current situation?" She strikes an attentive, serious pose.
The bearded man gives a half-smile, before continueing. The honeyed words and sweet smile of the petite gnome were harder to ignore than the obvious lie to the mayor.
"Lizardfolk from the jungle have been attacking recently, and in greater numbers." The mayor stops to stroke his beard. "A group of our militia went out to the jungle either to find out why, or to just stop them with force."
[sblock=Insight 20]By militia, he means people of some capability. A normal militia wouldn't be able to handle hardships of the jungle. Former adventures, war criminals, or war veterans that have taken residence in the town most likely.[/sblock]
[sblock=Nature 15]Being in Q'barra several tribes of lizardfolk probably live in the area. Not all may be hostile. The group would get information from other tribes before moving in to stop the hostile one.[/sblock]
"They were supposed to return more than a week ago. We have heard nothing from them. They were some of the most capable members of the militia. We are vulnurable to attack while they are gone. We sent word out, wishing for help to go into the jungle to find them."
Tondrek blinked twice and looked around, seeing the retreating tail of his group disappear into town. Shrugging, he lowered himself down and untangled himself. It took a good few minutes, and everyone was long gone by then.
Tondrek ambled it way in the general direction he thought the group went. Considering is quite unusual looks, no one would mistake him for a villager.
Tondrek without a guide and easily distracted, stops to look at a pair of monkeys and parrots in a tree. The half-orc turns in the wrong direction and heads toward the edge of the town. The timber wall is scorched in places and through a small gate, he can see a group of men working on digging a hole and lining up sharpened stakes to prevent a charge.
One of the men yell to Tondrek, "Hey you, what are you doin standin' around?! Everybody that can is s'posed to be workin' on the defenses! Grab a shovel!"
