(Adventure) To Delmon's Aid (Creamsteak Judging)

"Knocking seems the most polite thing to do. Also, we cant knock after we break down the door, but we can always break down the door after we knock. Lets see if hes in there first though"
Putting his face near the door, Thale shouts "Delmon? Are you in there? We are here to help. We found your letter."

Troi - Init: +3; AC: 16; HP: 9/12; Atk: Whip +2 (1d3+1)

Velbrik
"Well. Shall we knock, perhaps, or try to break through? The chances seem about equal for a favorable or unfavorable outcome with either."

Troi shrugs. "Eh... well, if th' dwarf is dead, then he ain't gonna respond. So if we yell..."

Thale
"Delmon? Are you in there? We are here to help. We found your letter."

"...like that," Troi says, with another shrug, "then break down th' door, we should be good. If he's alive an' smacks me with somethin', I got another potion on me."

Coiling up his whip, Troi braces himself, and rams into the door with his right shoulder with as much force as he can muster.

Strength mod is +1.

OoC:I had Thale and Thurgan add their STR to Troi's, for a total of +5 to the attempt. Roll 17+5=22.

IC: Straining and pushing, the three try to open the door. The door strains, but holds. Were it a normal door, they are sure that it would have opened. There must be magic involved with it's closure...

"That's one tough bugger of a door, fine dwarven make most likely," Thurgan commented. "Ya want me ta take a few swings with me axe?"

Thurgan inspected the door, doorway and nearby walls for any clues on opening the door, possible traps, secret entrances, etc.

"Damnit." Troi says, sighing. He leans against the door.

"Yeah, Thurgan, if ya wanna try, go ahead and chop at th' door." Troi says, moving out of the way. "Dunno how much good it'll do, though."

Sorry had an essay crisis

"Couldn't an axe through the door lead directly to a fireball in the face or similar? Not that I can think of anythink very much expedient and also better, perhaps we are missing some catch or unlocking device..."

Frustrated, you all brainstorm to figure out how to get into the room.

Felix has a thought...the Bird got out, so there must be a way in.
Looking high up, he sees what he expected (in general), there is an opening about 20' up, a space tha the bird exited from. It looked about 2 feet wide and a foot tall, perhaps someone could fit through...

Felix immediately indicates the opening to the group.

"Looks tricky but, I have found for the most part in my life, where there's a will there's a way...
Any ideas? given that there may be a rather rash wizard on the otherside of the hole and whoever goes through will not be in the best defensive position..."

"Hmm..." Troi says, coming down off the stairs and taking a look up towards the hole in the ceiling. "Looks kinda tricky ta me... Thurgan, ya keep workin' at th' door, I'll try th' ceiling."

He slings his backpack off his shoulder, opens it, and rummages through it. A few moments later, he stands up, a grappling hook and a long length of rope in his hands. "This should do... if the ceiling'll hold, anyway." He says, tying the grappling hook to one end of the rope.

"Lemme see if I can get this ta work. Stand back, eh? Don't wanna take yer legs off, or somethin'." Moving his pack out of the way, Troi swings the grappling hook a few times to get a feel for it's weight, then attempts to get it into the hole in the ceiling.

"Aye, I can do that," Thurgan answered. He hung his good war axe at his side and pulled his other well crafted war axe out. Setting his feet, Thurgan started into a steady rhythm, much the same as when he worked the metal at the forge with his hammer.
