(Adventure) To Delmon's Aid (Creamsteak Judging)

OoC:Rolled a '20' for troi the first time out...

IC: As Thurgan begins chopping away at the door, troi hurls the grapnel up and clean through the hole on the first attempt. Pulling it tight, he notes that it has caugt beautifully on the other side...one would thing there was some sort of magic at work aiding his cast...

OoC:Who's climbing, Troi?

Troi looks up at the lodged grappling hook, and nods approvingly. "Not too bad, if I say so myself." He says, testing the rope.

"Alright, up I go." He says, as he grabs onto the rope. "I'll go up alone. If s'all good upstairs, I'll tug on th' rope once. If somethin's not so good... well, then I won't tug at all, or twice if I can, so wait a minute or two 'fore y'all start climbin'."

With that, he begins his ascent.

Troi climbs deftly up te wall, aided by the odd protrubance here or there, a torch scone, the mounted head of a Gargoyle, a placard with some wierd writing upon it in an alien script. reaching the opening <Escape Artist 17 untrained total>, Troi can see into the chamber beyond, which appears to be a Bedroom covered in all manner of devices, bookshelves and gadgets.
Upon a low bed (with griffon skin/feather canopy) lies the body of a very pale Dwarf, he is clearly wounded, with a gash upon his brow as well as a dark stain on his chest, this showing through a pale yellow shirt. The Dwarf isn't moving...

There seem to be no Automatons within,or any other Guardians, for that matter. the Door is indeed barred by a stout wooden bar. A fireplace crackles, a low flame giving the Chamber a shadowy, haunted look...

Troi quickly tugs twice on the rope, making sure to pause momentarily before the second tug.

"He's up here, alright." Troi calls down. "He's not lookin' too good, though. Nothin' up here that's hostile."

He then rushes to the dwarf's side. He attempts to determine if the dwarf is still alive, and if so, how bad his wounds are.

OoC:Just to clear things up, you will drop down about 8' into the room, though that's easy enough.

IC: Troi drops into the room, using a table as a step-ladder before hitting the floor. Troi is about 8 feet from the Dwarf/bed and about the same distance to the Door when he hears a Whoosh and shields his eyes briefly against a sudden wave of heat.
Flowing from the fireplace towards him is an amorphous flame, looking about man-sized and shooting off little bits of red-orange fire as it moves. It doesn't tale a third year student at Orussus Arcane university to see that it is a fire elemental and that it is coming for Troi...

Troi - Init: +3; AC: 16; HP: 9/12; Atk: Longsword +3 (1d8+1)

"Holy freaking crap!" Troi yells, surprised by the walking fire. "The fire's alive! An' it's comin' at me! Hurry up!"

He then dashes at the fire elemental, drawing his longsword as he does so, and slashes at it.

Move to get near it, drawing weapon in conjunction with move, then attacking with longsword +3, 1d8+1.

Velbrik, (presumably) hearing the commotion within, shouts, "Troi! Don't be a fool! Unbar the door so we can get in!" He rattles the door handle to punctuate his point.

OoC: Ack!!!
I was really hoping that you would move to open the door first...Ugh.
At least you hit it...

Initiative

Troi (16) CHarges the Elemental, slashing at the being of living fire with his Longsword<5HP>, seemingly damaging it.

Elemental (14) brings down it's flaming fist on Troi <4 HP bashing+ 5 burn...Troi failed the ref save and is now on fire....>

OoC:On the brighter side...EVen though the DC (28) is beyond the means of those on the other side, unless someone had lifted the bar, which would have dropped it to by 10...I rolled a '20' for Thurgan and Co to break it open, so...

The door smashes open, spilling Thurgan and Felix and Thale into the room, Thale mursing a bruised shoulder. The scene facing them is a horrific one.
The Dwarf lies comatose or dead upon the floor, there is a 6' tall fire elemental facing you and troi is burning just to the side of it...

Initiative

Thale 19
Troi 16
Velbrik 15
Elemental 14
Felix 12
Thurgan 4

Edit:Added Velbrik to Initiative.

Was I overlooked in the initiative order by mistake, or is there a reason? Assuming the former..

Velbrik seems about to say something, then breaks off and instead curses in a harsh, guttural language. Scrambling forward, he reaches the dwarf and utters a series of arcane words, placing his hands on the dwarf's head in an effort to heal him.

Cure light wounds spell on the dwarf; 1d8+2
