(Adventure) To Delmon's Aid (Creamsteak Judging)

MW Waraxe To hit: +5, Damage: 1d12+3, AC 17, Reflex Save +4

WhatKu said:
"Little help here people?" Thale shouts as he tries to destroy the %#&(@#( living fire.

"You want somethin' more 'n me?" Thurgan asked, his deep voice even deeper with the increase in size. Thurgan stepped back 5' (if he could still hit the creature in his now large size) and swung again at the elemental unless it is called off by Delmon.

OOC: For enlarge To hit stayed the same (-1 to hit, +2 Str), Damage increased by 1 and die increased on War axe (I think 1d12 is after 1d10?), Ac decreased by 1.

Thale swings his weapon, desperately trying to hit the Elemental, who manages to evade the blow.

Troi steps back up, swinging his sword, which manages to hit <6HP>.

Velbrik attempts to rouse the Wizard, who looks as if he had just come out of a coma, truth be known. He seems to be attempting to focus his mind enough to respond.

The Elemental engulfs Thale with it's flaming arms, but fails to harm the Elf (who has a very disturbing aura of fire for the briefst of seconds, making Troi's eyes bulge for a second).

The Wizard yells in a voice far to strong for one so hurt 'Igneo ascha et Retrium!' . Te words have a startling effect on the Elemental, who instantly dissolves into a small line of fire that flows across the floor back to the fireplace from whence he came.

OoC: I am going to give you folks the XP for defeating the Elemental in full, as Velbrik's quick thinking caused it's defeat. BTW, go ahead and mark off the spell instead of the potion, the potin is a more valuable commodity, and the post was my mistake.
Feel free to interact etc, but i'm going to post this, which will hopefully answer at least some questions.

IC: The Wizard Delmon looks around at your group and smiles, wanely 'Well, the least that I could do is put on a spot of tea for those who saves my life. As a kettle floats over to the fireplace, and teacups fly from a cupboard, as does honey, milk, cinnamon sticks and various spoons and little platters (as well as a box of cookies), Delmon stands weakly and makes his way to a short stuffed chair, indicating others for you all.
'Well, where do I begin...I was working on some items that I had ben creating when there came a sudden attack upon my home. orcs, or at least I thiught them Orcs at first, as well as Worgs. They had a look about them of a beast, even moreso than fou orcs usually possess. I was low on magic, having used most in the creation of said projects, but I let them have it just the same, killng a few. Their bodies should be down below. They had a necromancer with them, a Cleric, I think. I think that he was once human, though only the Gods know what sort of depraved things he had done in his life to strip away the semblance of his humanity... I found myself retreating up to the second floor, where I had a quartet of Automatons in waiting. They sure let the Orcs have it, cutting them and puttin' bolts in their blasted hides. It was then that i saw the Necromancer work his craft, animating one of the fallen orcs. I knew that i was overmatched, though I woud have given them what for if I was at full strength. I must say that I took several wounds, as you can see, from their black talons as well as the jaws of a Worg.

When last I saw, my automatons were cutting them to ribbons as I closed my door.

Well, I knw that I was sorely hurt and I eneded aid, so i sent my Familiar ,Rollo out to get help from Orussus. It wasn't a minute after I set him to wing that a blackness came over me, which lasted until you Goode Folk found me here. I know now that the Automatons must have shot poor Rollo, who has been my friend for nigh on twenty years. I will get him brought back, though, I have twice before, though he's a curmudgeony old bird, an i should leave him dead.'

< Wizard hurt quite a lot, brought to 0HP, awake but messed up, Familiar gets killed by a lucky shot, Wizard loses XP and a level/HPs, bringing him to negs. I deemed that it was subdual HP, which left him unconcious. Maybe a bit off from the true mechanics, but it made for a nifty story point.>

XP:380 each, includng the Golem,RP and saving the Wizard.

Seeing you state, Delmon snaps his fingers, wherupon a small box floats over to him. Opening it, he produces a salve and informs you all that it is a healing Salve, which you then may use upon your wounds (healed of all damage).
Rubbing his beard a moment, Delmon smiles and asks Thurgan to fetch a wooden box against the wall. Saying 'I can't have my rescuers wanring for reward, now can I?We Dwarves pay our debts, even when no payment has been asked for...You may each take a pick from what lies withing, some I have made, some I have gathered and have no personal use for, some I keep for trading and gifts'

Inside are several items

1: a Potion of Invisibility (3 doses)

2:a Battered old travelling Spellbook containing:Color Spray,Shield,Mage Armor,Mount,Rope Trick,Invisibility

3:a quiver of Light Crossbow bolts +1 (25 of them)
4:a Gray Bag of Tricks

5;Wand of Magic Missile (1st Level use), 50 charges

6:Cloak of Protection +1

7:a +1 chain shirt

8:a set of 3 masterworked throwing knives

OoC:He informs you all as to what the items are in full.
Feel free to ask questions, talk amongst yourselves.

Leaning back in his chair, Thale sips his tea and stares idly at the equipment that the dwarf has given them. "We found an orcish zombie and we dispatched it, and we had to destory two of your automatons who tried to kill us. Aparently this new breed of orcs have attacked other places, including the monastery."

OoC:Remember. he said you folks could each have 1 item. :D

IC: Delmon says that he figures you had to dispatch the Automatons to save him, though he seems rather proud that they repelled the Orcs.
Odd, he says, they had enough troops to most likely take the Tower eventually,it's as if something called them away...

Thurgan looks over the offerings of the Wizard Delmon and mused a bit. "I kinda like t'looks of that cloak, simple and to the point. Most cloaks are made much too fancy . . . but if someone else'd want it, i can figur somethin' else."

Standing up, Thale runs his hand over the chain shirt, and then tests the balance of the magical crossbow bolts. "The armor is very nice, but I think I would like the crossbow amunition better. Anyone else want them?"

"Yeah, these orcs, they're a little nastier 'n yer normal ones." Troi says, leaning against the nearest wall. "An' the cleric ya talk of... I think I might've seen 'im before, at the Vingarius Vinyards, dunno if ya know th' place. If it was 'im, he had some a th' nasty orcs there, too... an' some nasty-lookin' wolves."

He peers over Thurgan's shoulders at the items. "Eh... most a those I wouldn't be able ta use... th' chain, though, I think I can use that, if nobody else'd mind..."

He picks up the chain shirt, and tests its weight.

"Hmm... maybe a little heavy, but it's good..." He looks up from examining it. "Thanks fer th' stuff, Delmon," He says, nodding, "an' fer the hospitality."

Velbrik nods to the dwarf. "Thank you for your generosity." Looking towards the others, he says, "I'd like the magical cloak, if you're all of a mind to allow it."

He puts one finger to his chin thoughtfully. "Hm. Delmon, you may not have known this, but there was indeed a much larger force involved in this; a manor house was struck, and it is likely that the Monastery of Saint Feragon is under attack as well. We know not their motives," Velbrik says. "Perhaps you could provide a bit of enlightenment?"

"In any case, those of us who had first been awoken to the threat of these Kroggothians set out to two locations, in a hope to uncover some semblence of a root motive, and to halt their activites wherein we could find them. One location was, of course, here; the other being the Monastery of Saint Feragon I mentioned earlier. Now that you are safe, I must consider if our friends might use some aid. The monastery is a good bit of travel away, and I couldn't help but ask if you are versed in travel magic? Perhaps, even a teleport spell?" says Velbrik, though his tone seems to indicate that he considers the last option unlikely.

Continuing to speak, he says, "Though if there is no way to reach them in expediency, I would like to speak with you for a bit. You are a scholar of the obscure and arcane in an addition to a practitioner of it, are you not?*"

*Velbrik is headed towards the Dragon Disciple PrC, and I'd like to support that IC as well; this (maybe) being the first step, though I intend to request a specific adventure once I'm close in XP to being able to take the first level of that class.

Uriel, would you mind making one post for the total XP in the adventure, to link to in my character sheet?
