(Adventure) Trek to the Vinyard...

Velbrik
"Come now, surely you've heard of werewolves?"

"Hmm..." Troi ponders. "So ya think that's what's goin' on? Sure, I've heard of 'em, but never actually seen one, y'know?"

"Hm. It may be a symbol of a group, or it may be simply a talisman. It might be magical. Should I look for a magical aura, or save my spells for when they may be more needed?"

"I'm thinkin' ya should save your spells." Troi says, looking at the 'symbol'. "I dunno if that thing'll be magical."

Zoe
"We know we need to be carefull. What exactly happened to that wagon we will find out later, I hope."

Troi nods. "Like I said before, I'm always careful." He smiles at her. "But on a more serious note, we should be takin' that as a serious warnin', y'know? Curiosity killed the cat, so let's just do what we came to do and nothin' more."

Rinaldo
"Troi, you are the specialist of hunting and wilderness, I think you'll do the call on that."

"Well, the wolf-things aren't new, we heard 'bout 'em from Gunnerson." Troi says, leaning back in his chair. "But an ogre... those are probably a little outta our league, y'know? So, like I said before, let's be careful. If we're lucky, maybe we won't have to deal with the ogre."

Thurgan
"Dwarven wizard interests me as well, perhaps it's worth checkin' out while we're out, both ta make sure he's okay and ta get his view on what's about..."

"We might do that, once we're done checkin' out the wagon and whatnot." Troi says. "But th' wagon's our first priority, 'cause we're gettin' paid for it. After that, so long as we don't run into that ogre, I think we could check out th' tower."

He rises. "Well, shall we?" He looks to Gunnerson. "Thanks for your time, man. You've been helpful... when we find out what's goin' on down there, we'll let you know on our way back."

"Yes I think we should head to the wagon, as we noted earlier the fresher any clues or tracks the better"

Zoe frowns. "I've heard those stories too, even within the sanctions of the temple, but more as folklore than true knowledge. If the stories are true, we ought to be carefull though. More experienced paladins, like my instructor, have learned powers that make such creatures hardly a threat, but personally I have nothing special to battle such creatures."

"Mind if I take a look?" Zoe asks. Open receiving the symbol, Zoe tries to decypher anything she can from it the natural way (Religion +4), before grasping the miniature silver mace hanging on her chest and concentrating deeply, scanning for any evil auras that may lie upon the symbol.

"Agreed." Zoe nods, "though we shouldn't forget about the other stuff later on though. Not neccesarily work it out ourselves but at least informing people about the problem."

"Oh, they definitely exist. And we had definitely ought to be careful, though we may yet find a different source for the wreckage. Let's check out the wagon for now."

Velbrik turns to the halflings and roadwarden, saying, "Thank you for your time, gentlemen."

[OOC: I think it would be handy to have a thread of general knowledge that characters can already know without skills - especially for creatures and magic. Velbrik is a well-educated bard, fortunately, but if I'd been a fighter and accidently claimed knowledge of lycanthropy, I'd probably need to figure out some background that justifies that, since that isn't jiving right now with what the others know.]

"Ok, we have a wagon which have been attack, about 10 mile south of here. We have a burning tower about 30 miles to the east. We have trace of an Ogre who would be wandering in this region. We have bandits, and we have two sight of what may be a werewolf.

If all of this is true, it is more than we can handle. Anyway, we are interested only with what have a relation with... what was his name... sir Vingarius? Yeah, it's Vingarius, who is the owner of the wagon which was attack.

As far as we know, the Ogre, the bandits and the tower have no relation, yet one of the sight of the strange wolf have been near the tower.

And there is always the possibility to travel to Vingarius estate and try to find something there too.

I suggest to travel to the estate, and make a stop by the attack site. It must be on the way, no? So what do you think Lady and gentlemen?"

Frederick and Gunnarson both thank you for the promise to keep them informed.

OoC:Heading south along the road now?

"Fine with me. Those are the two locations directly related to the task at hand, so let's check them out first." Zoe mounts her horse and follows after Troi.

The Roadwardens wish you luck in your endeavor and the sounds of smithing recede as your ride South.
Near two hours go by (five miles an hour being a fair pace set by the better riders among you for the slower ones) and you round abend and sight what must be the Wagon. Off to the right side of the road, the wagon looks very damaged, several places showing weapon attacks upon it. Likewise, 6 barrels lie about, broken and empty, their contents spilled upon the ground, long since soaked therough the soil.
The entire area is muddy and there are no obvious tracks or other signs to indicate who attacked , nor are there any signs of the drivers or horses, just as the Roadwardens Tale indicated.

OOC: Did I find out anything about the symbol? (Religion +4, Detect Evil).

Zoe maintains her speed as she rides to the wagon, keeping an eye open at her surroundings. "Well, this must be the place. Though there's not much left to investigate, we should still do so, I guess. Perhaps meanwhile some of us can explore the surrounding countryside?"
