(Adventure) Trek to the Vinyard...

"This looks likely, indeed," whispers Velbrik. "Daryn, if something jumps out at us, I want you to get under something behind me. I'll keep anything from getting at you."

Having said this, he draws his longsword and proceeds cautiously forward.

"I'd guess so. It matches Daryn's directions and it's the only open door. We should keep our guard up though." Zoe whispers as she advances towards the door.

Hallway

OoC:Yes, dropping the whip is fine, drawing the weapon would have provoked an AofOp, butthe orc is too far away, so a-chargin you shall go!

IC: Troi drops his whip and charges, his blade out, catching the Orc for minimal damage <2HP>.

The Orc laughs and rakes it's claws across Troi's chest, succeeding merely in ruining a fine shirt <miss>.

Felix shoots an arrow at the thing, causing Troi to exclaim in alarm as the arrow barely misses him as it hits the Orc in the gut <8HP>. The Orc looks suprised, then falls back against the doorframe, dead, slumping to the ground in a pool of blood.

First Floor
Zoe, Velbrik and Rinaldo (along with little Daryn) advance to the open door, looking in cautiously. before they get there, the clearly smell burnng food, and Daryn says [COLOR]'Thas the Dinin Room, the kichens afer it.'
Peering in (using a lantern/Sunrod/torch I presume?), you see the body of an Orc lying at the far side of the room, a long tabe and many chairs (strewn about) signifying that this is indeed the Dining Room. The smell of burning food comes from the open door at the other side of the room.

"Perfect - it looks like our friends have been through here already," says Velbrik. "We should be safe for the moment, at least; it's obvious they've been doing well against the orcs. Let's proceed forward quickly, before more have a chance to arrive."

Troi slowly exhales, closing his eyes, then turns to look at Felix. "Damn, man. Nice work, 'n all that, but... holy crap, you scared th' hell outta me."

"Alright," He says, grabbing his whip. He coils it up, and clips it back onto his belt; he retains his grip on his rapier. "Bastards got thick hides, I won't be able ta use th' whip. So let's be a little more cautious with th' ranged weapons, eh?" He nudges Felix slightly with his elbow. "No hard feelin's, though. Ya did what ya had ta, an' ya got th' bastard. S'all good."

He peeks in through the door, making a quick check for any other orcs, then moves on ahead, kicking the dead orc as he passes it.

Thurgan gave the orc a quick search before setting out with Troi and Felix. He also reloaded the crossbow, and checked if he could recover his missed bolt or if it was too badly damaged.

Down Below

Zoe, Rinaldo and Velbrik (and the child) move through the kitchen, noting the burnig food-pot and on into the back hall where the stairs leading up can be seen. Zoe can hear a commotion above, lasting for a moment, and then she hears Troi's voice, though she can't make out what he says in detail.
<I assue that> The Companions begin a cautious ascent...

Above

Troi checks within the room, noting that it is a bedroom (now torn apart), seeing no other Orcs.

Thurgan frowns as he realizes that his bolt was damaged beyond repair.
The Orc looks much like the beast encountered thus far. Little in the way of clothing covers his form, though he wears a necklace like those before.
There is a heavy mace just inside the door, as well as a bag of things that the Orc must have been looting, silver candle holders, some inexpensive jewelry and the like.

At the end of the Hall, a pair of ornate double-doors stands slightly ajar.

Troi - Initiative: +3; AC: 16; HP: 8/8; Weapon: Rapier +4, 1d6+1

Still wielding his rapier, Troi cautiously approaches the end of the hall, motioning for Thurgan to follow, then Felix. As he goes, he tries to listen for sounds of movement beyond the door.

Move Silently +6, Listen +5.
