River follow the group, helping the guide into following the direction given by Abram.
"I think we should be a bit cautious and not just head straight west unprepared. Lan, maybe we could serpentine a bit northwest and southwest once we get out of town to the west and you could use those sharp eyes of your to see if you can pick up the trail of this other Drow. Or possibly find an old trail or spot something in the distance." Sheeva says.
Lanharath nods to Sheeva, giving her just a hint of a smile for the compliment. Taking his horse ahead of the others (about 50 feet) so that he could look in all directions without encountering tracks besides his own, he slowly scans the landscape for any clues of the drow's or the palidin's passing through this region. Touching the blue marks on his chest, he can feel warmth from the activation of his birthright that travels straight to his head and then focuses into his eyes, clarifying his vision and magnifying details that no ordinary being could see.
Pok repeats the mantra over and again, to no avail,
*I don't need to hide, I don't need to hide, I don' need to hide, I don'eed to hide, I doneed to hide, I do need to hide, I do need to hide.* His head buried once again in the horses neck, and bouncing off it's back the entire ride. In between panic attacks, Pok explains his knowledge of the region based on historical maps, topographical maps, and historic events that occurred in the region. He does his best not to complain, but his body posture and manner of speech make his discomfort at traveling in the open painfully obvious.
Valahad's knowledge of nature doesn't help him in this terrain. It was too unfamiliar too him with his untrained eye. Even with his shield on his back, the magic of his armor and his own endurance can't help him as the sun beats down, heating him throughly.
Valahad's horse pulls up lame as the shifter doesn't notice a hidden natural danger in front of him. The horse can walk at a slow pace, but in its current shape it struggles to support the paladin's weight. Luckily, Lanharath has had some luck following the trail of someone, although whether its their quarry, the mysterious drow, or someone else he's not sure. Shortly after the injury to the horse you spot a settlement just at the foothills of the the Graywall Mountains. This natural boundary seperates the lands of Drooam and Breland. The last few settlements you've passed have been burnt to the ground, a human body or two lying at each of them, the carrion creatures enjoying the feast. This one is little more than a couple of farmhouses built in close proximity to one another. As you approach, a figure on horseback rides out from the nearest farmhouse. An older human stops about 15 feet away from you, one hand on his longsword,
"Whatya doing around here? We ain't get too many visiting types up this way." the man says, he seems to be weighing some things, then says
"You ain't look like no trouble though, but yer horse looks like she's pulled up lame. You might have ta put her down. Tell ya what, you might need a place to stay, it'll be dark soon and I could use some company. You can stay in my house tonight. Name's Perren Auldwyl."
