Adventures from Songs

I haven't based an adventure on a song but I did once create a campaign for which Yes lyrics provided a lot of the inspiration. If I was to choose a song upon which to base a scenario, I'd go for 'Gates Of Delirium'.

Billy Joel

A friend of mine (rest in peace Glenn) did a couple of adventures based on Billy Joel song lyrics.

One was from the song 'The Stranger'. He had four different magical masks made from Satin, Steel, Silk, and Leather.

The second was from the the song 'The River of Dreams'. We ended up in a Ravenloft type place with the following features: Mountains of Faith, Valley of Fear, Jungle of Doubt, and the Desert of Truth.

Peace and smiles :)

I had a whole Over the Edge campaign based on Talking Heads songs (Psycho Killer, Burning Down the House, Crosseyed & Painless, etc.).

I had a one-shot D&D game based on a version of the old folksong Tom O'Bedlam

Actually, I've used lots of folksongs for story bases... hmm...

I think I'll have to do another one now, maybe Black Jack Davies...

Created a magic item from a Bauhaus song:

the Shadow(ed) Dagger.

You win the prize if you can tell me the song! (OK, so the prize is a Kick in the Eye, but whatever. :D )

I'm rusty on my Bauhaus, gimme a line? :D

The fabric of dreams is ripped apart
As you feel the twist of the shadowed dagger

--It's kinda obscure, but not impposible to find. And I really *don't* have a prize, you'll just have the surging rush of accomplishment and pride, knowing that you remembered your Bauhaus lyrics first before anyone else..!

I'm sure you'll agree the following song is just full of potential!

GIMME GIMME GIMME (A MAN AFTER MIDNIGHT)
(B.Andersson/B.Ulvaeus)
First release 1979

Half past twelve
And I'm watching the late show in my flat all alone
How I hate to spend the evening on my own
Autumn winds
Blowing outside the window as I look around the room
And it makes me so depressed to see the gloom
There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase these shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Movie stars
Find the end of the rainbow, with that fortune to win
It's so different from the world I'm living in
Tired of T.V.
I open the window and I gaze into the night
But there's nothing there to see, no one in sight
There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase these shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight...
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight...

There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase these shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase these shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

I always wanted to base a game off of Astronomy by Blue Oyster Cult...

Something about a guy named Desdemona who is gonna go to the end of time...and a bar called the "4 Winds" that's the nexus of the storm...
