When it comes to non-D&D general fantasy gaming info Dragon can't compete with Knights of the Dinner Table, IMHO.

That FF article was a stinker. It's (almost) as bad as Wil Save.

Keep dreaming. They can't even get their art supplements out.

Heck, they can't even post TEXT ONLY conversion notes without whining over deadline-this and short-staff-that.

But they have all the time in the world to post on multiple message boards over the most asinine of topics.

I'm well aware I'm feeding the troll here, but why do you bother reading our magazines and supporting our products when you so obviously disdain everything we do? (Yes, I've read your previous posts re: everything you can think of.)

Sorry to go off topic here, but you're kind of an enigma.

For the record: I don't work on the magazines and I'll gladly post when and where I like.

Back on topic ...

To the OP: I enjoyed the article. I'm a Final Fantasy fan. I'm a Paizo fan. I'm a Dungeons & Dragons fan. Having all three in one place makes it easier for me to remember what I need to buy myself in the immediate future. ;)

I always find it amazing how quickly people jump to conclusions. Does anyone here honestly think that someone at Paizo said, "Hey - we've got a really cool article about wereflumphs. Let's cut it so that we can put in an article about Final Fantasy?"

Let's see. One of the most influential gaming magazines has a small article about one of the most influential fantasy video games. Hrm. That definitely doesn't make any sense. :)

To Takasi: Nice to see you again! How's your Adventure Path coming along?

To Mike, Josh, and everyone else: This was truly an impressive issue; it's easily one of my favorites over the last year. Keep up the good work! (I liked Silicon Sorcery, for what it's worth.) I rely on word of mouth from my video game friends on the latest cool games, and First Watch is useful in that regard.

I'll chime in and say that I'm with those that don't see it as a big deal. I too pine for the days when Dragon covered other RPGs than D&D. I loved the Marvelphile and would love to see something similar for M&M. There was enough coverage about different game systems to broaden my horizons as far as gaming goes. I had hoped that when Paizo spun off of WOTC, that we'd get more varied coverage of other RPGs. I don't want to choke out all D&D coverage in Dragon, I think it should be the major focus of the magazine, but it'd be nice to have a little more variation every now and then.

Love it or leave it? Either you're with us or you're against us? Fanboy and nonsubscriber are your only categories of segregation?

And you're in charge of marketing?

There's a difference between "listening to customers' complaints" and "caring when someone who has been constantly and unceasingly critical complains yet again." Even just looking upthread, you weren't trying to be constructive; you were just insulting.

If I worked for Paizo, I wouldn't much care if I kept you as a customer, either.

Yeah, you know, I always liked those articles, too. But our market data says Silicon Sorcery is the least popular of our articles. :(

As for me, I'd rather see coverage of non-D&D video games without trying to shoehorn some D&D content into the mix. That just seems contrived to me.
So I was never a fan of Silcon Sorcery, at least not after the times when the Dragon covered other games...

There are plenty of people in this thread who did not agree with the inclusion the Final Fantasy article and yet are subscribers or regular readers of Dragon. The staff at Paizo have answered the questions addressed to them in this thread and explained a bit of the process behind their decision. At no point before you started to threadcrap did they say, "if you don't like it, don't read our magazine."

However, once you began your usual descent into "I want more Eberron! Paizo is duplicitous! They don't agree with me, therefore they are wrong!" mode, the question was raised here that was raised over at www.paizo.com - if you dislike the business practices of the company so much, and if you find the quality not to your liking, why do you subscribe?

Constructive criticism is always welcome. Destructive criticism has no real value.

Give that man a gold star!! :D

PS - more fluff, less crunch for those of us who buy Dungeon and Dragon but use other systems. For a good spell I considered dropping the titles but the recent issues have inched toward keeping my dollar.

My comment was attempting to state that this sort of coverage is good for the magazine because it can have the side effect of drawing in more video game advertising dollars.

So if you write previews and reviews of video games, video game companies will start advertising with Dragon? :\

Hell, shoes sell a lot too!

And don't forget the porno! Porno for all! :p

I can see it now. Instead of pop up adds, they'll be little stick 'ems on the pages that you have to rip off (close) to get to the material. The tops of the magazine will be banner ads. Bottom sidebars with web address information and promotional coupons. Opportunities to Punch Tom cruise out and get a free PS 3!

If it did bring in some ad dollars, that'd be great. Would we see a cover price reduction?
