Advice on a cleric feat please.

Clumsy Bob

First Post
I am playing an 8th level cleric of Kelemvor about to take my 9th level as a Sacred Exorcist.
My feats to date are, power attack, divine might, scribe scroll and martial weapon greatsword.
Now I am a little stuck as to which feat to take next. With a Int and Dex of 12 certain feats are instantly blocked, I also will eventually gain extra turning as a class ability so that is out for now.
So using 3.5 and any FRCS material + splat books, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

With Divine Might you probably go the fighter route, therefore Extend Spell and later Persistant Spell are good choices for a Cleric. Persistant Divine Favor alone is worth those two feats and there are many more applications.

Since you already are higher level and it would take another 3 to get there, you might also want to look for a more immediately useful choice, which would be Quicken Spell. Similar, yet not as powerful (altho useable on more different spells), but only one feat.

II is one of those feats that you can really never go wrong in taking.

You go first, you do damage first, yo do damage before damage is done to you.

Hence, you live longer. :)

As a Cleric, you also have the option of distributing out a Cure spell before a companion (or yourself) gets KO'ed or killed.

Okay, after hours of deliberating I have finally settled upon spell penetration. Especially as I forsee many drow encounters in the not too distant future.

thanks for the help guys

For a melee cleric, I'd go for cleave. Great cleave is rarely triggered in the mid-level ranges (due to expected damage, number of attacks and the average hps of common mid-level foes), but cleave is very useful.

I am curious since I play a cleric very similar to yours. Since it looks like you have made a frontline cleric here, like me, which offensive spells do you foresee using so often that prompts you to take Spell Penetration? Hold Person?

BTW, my vote would have been for Improved Initiative. Being flatfooted sucks.

I just had to comment on this since I AGONIZED over taking Extend and Persisent for Divine Favor, but finally didn't. The reason why I decided not to was not just that losing two feats hurt too much, but mainly because there were too many 5th level spells I would much rather have prepared instead of a persistent Divine Favor. Look at the cleric 5th levels spells, there are a lot must-haves there! I wouldn't want to give any of them up. Honestly, using up a spell slot 4 levels higher is too big a cost, IMHO. Same goes for a lot of the other metamagics too. YMMV.

Having seen a melee cleric in action, I'm quite unsure, that there is any 5th level spell, that can even remotely compare to a 24h Divine Favor! ;)

What "must haves" do you speak of? True Seeing?

If you have 20+ Wis (with item) you still get one other spell and a domain spell at least (in 9th level).

About Spell Penetration: I don't know what spells you plan to use with that one. It can be a great feat for sure, but will it benefit you enough?
