"Age of Worms" Hardcover?

Tarkus

First Post
Anyone out there know when or if the Age of Worms Adventure Path is going to be released in a spiffy hardcover similar to the Shackled City Adventure Path Hardcover?

Uh oh. Not this again...

Short and skinny: god knows when. People seem to think there's a bunch of wotc crapola going on that is preventing Paizo from releasing it, and it might be true. After all, Paizo needs wotc's permission to release the hardcover, and it doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon.

No doubt Mr. Jacobs will be here in a few hours and will set everthing right with an official reply.

In fact, although I'm pleased to see the success of the SC hardcover, I think it's a big mistake.

Because it was released, it's became a pretty strong incentive *not* to buy Dungeon magazine. Why bother, when you can pick up the major adventure later, cleaned up and with additional material?

Cheers!

The last I had heard, Paizo wanted to publish a hardcover version and had officially asked WotC for permission to do so. As Wik said, Paizo can't make the book without Wizards' approval. At the moment there has still been no response either way from Wizards. We can only wait and hope. I personally will buy a copy if they do, not that that will influence Wizards' decision at all.

Merric I respect your opinion but I think you can read almost anything into the situation if you look hard enough. You may be right but then again you may be completely wrong.

IMHO the compilation would garner some extra $ for Paizo. A lot of Dungeon customers aren't subscribers (like me, cos I'm in Aus) and so pick up occasional issues. So here I am missing half the SC compilation and 4 issues of AOW. It's likely that I will buy the HC versions to bring me up to speed (especially for AOW thanks to Jolly Doc's amazing story hour).

We all know James Jacobs reads these boards. His silence on the issue (unless he's talked about this in a prior post and I missed it) lends weight to WOTC delaying the HC publication.

I don't know if or when it will be released, but as somebody who has next to no interest in Dragon magazine and a huge interest in AOW itself, I sure hope that it happens. 'd buy the hardcover in a heartbeat, but won't drop any money on Dragon as the AOW material is the only thing therein that I have an interest in (the other 95% of each magazine would ultimately be a waste of my money).

I don't know if he has said anything on these boards but he definitely has on the Paizo messageboards in response to similar questions about when a AOW hardcover will be coming out.

95%? Just to know, the adventure path's eat up a huge percentage of the page counts in Dungeon while its running. In fact, I'd consider recommending anyone not buy Dungeon while an AP is running if they have no interest in the AP at all given that percentage. IIRC, the Age of Worms took up half of the first issue it appeared in, and usually takes up at least 1/3 of the issue. It's only 1 of 3 adventures in each magazine, but almost always gets more space than the other adventures (there are a few exceptions).

I know that's why I held off on buying any of the AoW issues of Dungeon. I'd rather have the entire AP in a single book than a dozen individual magazines that can get lost or easily ruined. Then again, it would be easier to take a single magazine with you to a session than a huge book like the SC hardcover....

As time goes on and doubt as to whether we will ever see an AoW HC, I kick myself for not picking up the individual issues when they were new.
