"Are you insane?!" Amicae snapped as she ducked an arrow. "They're shooting at me too! They're probably after you guys, or...or her!"

She ran forward, taking cover between two of the trees growing side by side so she could get her blades out and work out what to do next. She wasn't too happy about the idea that after this ambush was over the entire other group might then turn on her...maybe the best idea was just to slip quietly away. Or maybe it was too late for that already.

(Move to F 15)

Erik

Erik instinctively stands his ground and tries to strike back. Darts of raw energy leave his hand hand transforming from lightning to ice to fire as they travel.

[sblock=OOC]
I assume the targeted Hunters have no cover from me, nor I have from them.

Standard: Unraveling Dart on H3 and H2
vs Fortitude. Probably 1 one hit. Damage type matches targets vulnerability. If the target has no vulnerabilities, the dmage is untyped and increased by 2.

Immediate Reaction: if hit by a non-minion attack the power can prevent, use Shield / Staff of Defense feature.

"Krawlinstar shut up and take cover you fool! Excuse him Lady Amicae, his brain has suffer severely from so much praying..." the warrior says, an arrow passing just inches above his head. Petron presses Scarlet down as he takes cover behind the spring. "We'll leave our little chat for later girlfriend, for now try to stay alive, it would be a petty to see such a fine specimen wounded. Friends of yours?" Petron say the last word as he looks into the forest, taking his brand new morning star, gripping it tightly...

OOC: Rolling insight again and Perception for later. Actions are just fluff, as Petron is blind like a mole, although highly intuitive... Another natural 20 on insight!

GM: The elves at H2 and H3 don't technically have cover, but I'm gonna invoke the unfavorable circumstances rule and apply a -2 penalty to any ranged attacks against them because they are ducking behind the shrubs that create the difficult terrain.
One of Erik's magical darts strikes its target and knocks the elf to the ground where he lies motionless (H2 unconscious). Suddenly, a pair of female elf archers appear from behind trees and pelt your group with more arrows. Their arrows sing towards Erik who narrowly dodges one but gets grazed along the shoulder by another (8 dmg). They are followed by a pair of male elven scouts who creep up, surprising your group and catching you unaware. One appears out of hiding from right behind one of the trees between which Amicae took cover catching her very much by surprise and takes a slice at her with his twin blades, a short sword and longsword. She narrowly dodges the short sword, but is sliced through her armor by the longsword, giving her a nasty cut (11 dmg). The elves you first spotted close in, swords drawn. Tomlin flees inside the chapel wailing.
GM: Damage taken
Erik 8
Amicae 11
All others uninjured, no status effects

The difficult terrain is either shrubbery (around the fountain and chapel) or underbrush. It provides concealment (-2 to hit) to any within and is considered difficult terrain. The trees provide cover (-2 to hit) for any behind them with respect to ranged attacks but not melee attacks. Tree squares cannot be occupied. The water in the fountain is calf-deep for medium creatures and is considered difficult terrain but offers no defensive benefits. The walls are hard cover, i.e. you have to move all the way around corners; the same is true of the fountain.

Begin Round 2, players' initiative.

Erik

Erik gasps from the pain, but reacts with a quick bolt of force, before jumping into cover to avoid other arrows.

(I assume my immediate defenses were not good enough or the archers were minions.)

Standard: Magic Missle (no AO because of the Staff Expertise) vs H1
move: to L18 (cover)
free: fall prone

Immediate Reaction: if hit by a non-minion attack the power can prevent, use Shield / Staff of Defense feature.

Erik's magical attack sends the elf reeling and he collapses from the force of the blow!
GM: The attack that hit beat your AC by 8 points so no, it couldn't have been prevented. I forgot to include attack roll results in the last post though I meant to.

Amicae cries out in pain, and is suddenly holding a wicked little dagger in her hand as if it had just appeared there by magic! In a blur of motion she plunges the blade through the top of a little jar tied to her belt...punching through the thin leather capping it and coating the weapon in a smear of thick, reddish goo. In almost the same movement she then whirls around and plants the dagger deep into the chest of the attacker that wounded her, then spins away out from between the two...slashing at another one as she goes!

(Okay! Quick Swap to ready dagger as a free action. Minor action to use Bloodroot Poison on dagger. Action point spent for an additional standard action, which is to use Poison Dagger power on Sc2. The 'basic attack' roll I am instead using for a Quick Lunge power, which lets me shift 1 before attacking. I shift out from between the two enemies to E16 and make the attack (the Basic Attack roll below) on H4 (not H3), then I use my Move action to shift AGAIN to E17. I figure since Sc2 is dazed at least one turn, he can't follow me -and- attack now. :) Bonus 1d8 damage will go to H4 if I hit him, or to Sc2 if I did not. Oh, and Sc2 is at -4 on his first save vs the poison.)
