Alignment shifting

Also, regarding mechanical effects of evil corruption:

Taint :: d20srd.org

There is also 'Vile' damage (which reduces Max HP) that could possibly be afflicted by corrupted creatures; it cannot be healed by any means outside of a sacred/hallowed area (and only using cure spells in a hallowed area will remove the vile damage).
While this is a good system, I'm not really sure I like it. Perhaps with the exception of carrying very evil items, I don't like the idea of parties dieing because they are just in a place of evil. Alignment shifting and corruption should be more a result of actions the PCs choose to take, rather than a situation they happen to be in.

This is mostly because Alignment is as much a character's personal philosophy as much as it is a system of Divine categorization.

Spending extended time in a place of Vile evil would have an impact on the character, but I think that it should be handled more as a Role-Playing scenario than just the soul-poisoning described in the link.

Thank you for the information, though!
