I'm starting up a new game in a short while, and am
leaning heavily towards doing away with traditional
"good/evil" roles in the game. I'm looking for
feedback so I can make sure I'm doing this fairly, so
classes who use spells and qualities that have
important good/evil components won't feel screwed.
At the high level, I will just declare all "humanoid"
races on this plane to be, for the purposes of magic,
neutral. (Players should feel free to think about
their char's qualities, but more in terms of "nice",
"mean", etc.) That means that any spells cast against
players that rely on good/evil qualities of a
character will just have no effect. Similarly,
they'll be able to cast "Detect Evil" on one another
forever and, no matter how mean and nasty, get not a
blip.
Monsters and all outsiders will still have this
"good/evil" thing (so dragons will, as will demons and
archons, etc.).
I went looking through the spells, and I think this
will work for most of them, with only a few exceptions
(like 'Blasphemy', which I think I shall just declare
not usable).
Thoughts?
