I LOVE TOMATOES: Cherry, Grape, Beefsteak, Roma... I eat them raw like apples, sliced with a little vinegar (I'm on an ultra-low sodium diet for my BP), in sauces, dried, etc. Chilled or hot, too- apparently, though, some of the better chemicals in tomatoes deactivate permenently if chilled.
However, OP...you are not alone. At least 3 of my buddies hate raw tomatoes.
Oddly enough, they also all hate bannannas, as I recall.
Some people can't handle mushy textures in their foods.
And reading over some of the other posts...I also eat my carrots, fish and almost anything else raw or cooked, except pork and shellfish. Gimmie my Oysters, but you'd better cook 'em.
Eggs? Hard boiled, soft boiled, and omlettes alll find their way down my gullet. Usually, however, its 2 sunny-side up (don't you DARE flip 'em), peppered, with heavily buttered toast (sourdough preferred) for the yolk.
And once, it was 1 raw egg cracked fresh (at tableside) and placed upon my Hungarian Goulash soup (in a restaraunt in Budapesht). Tasty? Yes! However, its not something I'd do on a regular basis (for the obvious health reasons).
About the only things I generally don't eat are asparagus and beets, and even THOSE I eat when prepared certain ways (like baby asparagus in a greek lemon sauce, or beets in borscht).
Oh yeah... I do NOT like Sea Cucumbers. They have a texture like gristle, almost no taste, and they look like turds. Thanks, but no thanks!
