Ok, I looked at the SRD today and it made me question my memory. 
As I remember it, you could target a single weapon or a bundle of up to 50 pc of ammunition (arrows, bolts...). Now, I noticed it is mentioned in greater magic weapon, but not in the 1st level version.
Is it that way in the 3.5 books?
Was it that way in 3.0?
Am I going ..........c r a z y?
