America gets crappy Adultswim

As for Korgoth - I heard that never got picked up.

I heard that it wasn't, then was, then wasn't, then was...now I have no idea. According to Wikipedia, it was picked up, but isn't on the schedule. Maybe a 2008 series?

Anyway, before I forget, a quick question to Harvey Birdman fans: What happened to the clone from the next-to-last episode? Is there still a "Harvey" kicking around?

So i'm in jamaica and on our first night there I find the cartoon network (yeah my priorities are really in order). Well I start watching adult swim and the lineup is amazing. First there's new episodes of inyusha where there up against these five super warriors. Then after that, another cool anime came on that had a very d and d lodoss war/ slayers feel to it (but obviously new). Then the lineup ends with some reruns end with some reruns of pokemon.

Okay, so I am waiting for you to list the non-crappy programs...

Seriously, a lot of people, myself included, think anime is crap and that the real adult swim produced shows, the ones made for adult swim or purchased because they fit directly with them (Family Guy and Futurama) and not recycled old dubbed Japanese cartoons with the same art style and types of plots over and over again, are the good stuff. Opinions obviously differ on that topic...but then you did start by calling the stuff I like "crappy", and the stuff you like "amazing".

The highest rated shows are:
Family Guy, Robot Cicken, Futurama, Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Well, Cowboy Bebop helped launch AS 'back in the day' so I still feel that it has its place, as long as they find new and interesting shows to put on.

NOTE: Not much of an anime fan anymore and I haven't watched AS in months because Venture Brothers has been in rerun hell for quite a while so my opinion may mean little.

I'm not saying Anime has no place. I am saying that I don't agree that people should characterized the core audience of the network as liking crappy shows.

The problem with some anime is that it's essentially the same thing. There's not scales of difference between Naurto, Bleach, and Dragon Ball Z. Shojen or something I think that sort of story is called?

Not bad but heck, after 40 episodes of Bleach I can't believe they're not done with the Soul Society arc yet.

I think "Shojen" is either a local term (for you) or a mistake of some sort. There's Shojo (pretty boy stories popular with girls) and there's Shonen Jump that's a magazine in which a lot of the most popular boys manga appears (such as Dragonball, Naruto and Bleach).

Well a lot of stories are essentially the same, Star Wars is basically the same story as "The Hidden Fortress", etc...

Actually the Soul Society storyline only started about 12-14 episodes ago (around the begining of season 2) and looks like it will mysteriously wrap up say around the end of season 2. Or about episode 52.

Yeah seriously, that's like saying that all superhero comics are the same or all role-playing games are the same because they have character generation and kewl powerz/abilities/loot.

Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho and Saint Seiya are all Shonen shows. They are action based shows aimed at pre-teenage / teenage boys, but sometimes do a surprisingly good job of characterization and plotting. They are also known for thier long story arcs. The Soul Society Arc ends at episode 56-57 if I remember correctly and it does begin shortly after the 2nd season so it's really average in length.

Shojo=Stories for young girls. While it CAN have bishounen (pretty boys) in it, it's not necessarily a staple. If the main lead is a girl, and the story focuses heavilly on romance or the power of love, it's probably a Shojo story.

Shonen=Stories for young boys. One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Mar, Prince of Tennis, etc.

Shonen Jump is a manga filled with Shonen Stories. :)

The Soul Society arcs ends at 63, but we have several 'mini arcs' that make up the entire thing. Of course, after that we get the entirely forgettable (And ENTIRELY to long) 'Bount' filler arc. Filler being yet another problem that often crops up in Shonen

I'll disagree. There are TOO many similiarites in Bleach, DBZ, and Naurto, among others for the comparission to all superhero comics to be made.

1. One main character who generally outclasses all of the other 'pcs'?

2. Fighters where the main character is brought near death and gains a massive power up?

3. Frequent use of healers to recover from these near death experiences?

4. Rivalries between the 'main' character and one of his 'friends/allies/nemesis'?

It's almost formulatic and doesn't change despite the settings/surroundings changing.

Which one of these would you say has good characterization? Bleach? Dragon Ball Z? The main characters are pretty much one liners with Ichigo always being a bit of a jerk with the soft heart and Goku only caring about fighting strong opponents no?
