Amethyst - New campaign setting

We had done research and we had searched the forums for information. After I read the GSL again and made the post on Gleemax, I became more confident about the idea. Most arguments I have seen have been knee-jerk reactions with little basis on fact.

Do not base your self on forums regarding murky legal matters. Anyway a Wotc faq would have been a better place to ask directions. If you are not under professional legal advice you trust, then you should at least try emailing Wotc and asking them IMO since their faq is not that comprehensive yet.

Wow, that's disappointing. I really wanted you guys to stick with 3.5E.

What Alzriussaid.

Why don't you go systemless and offer guides for various systems? I think that this is the best option for your case.
You can do stuff like equipment and spells and whatever without difficulty cross platform.

Or I'd be OK with this, too.

Whether you go 4E or 3.5, I'm still in for the fiction line, regardless, assumng that it proceeds forward at some point.

And congratulations, BTW; you guys should be pleased that a setting introduced in the last days of 3.5 is garnering such fervent opinions! :)

Mr. Dias, how mechanically compatible do you forsee a GSL Amethyst being with regards to the 'core' 4E rules? Obviously you can't redefine anything, but would the power level and format of your new races and classes be similar enough to the core game to be able to pick the pieces of the one you like for use in the other?

Well, of course, it should be 100% compatible to the core rules. It should also be important to mention that we intend to remove certain elements and add in new ones (in the form of races and a few classes). The fluff and feel of the game should reflect through those without having to change anything major. So far, we plan on adding in maybe one additional concept to broaden the setting and allow more role-playing.

As of now, we are not sure how to proceed in that fashion. The podcast will have more on that. I will say that a lot of the concepts we knew we were going to change with our 3.5 OGL version have been spotted in the 4ED version, so that was refreshing to discover.

I hope you've got plenty of the 3.5 around. I hope to get one in a few weeks.

Consider looking at the donation options on our main page. They may interest you.

...and yes...we'll be selling the 3.5 until the 4.0 release or until the grace
period ends (whatever comes first).

Looking forward to the 4e book, DEM, I'll buy it the second it comes out. The setting looks great. :D (had to try out a new smiley)
