CLASS TRAITS
Role: Defender
Power Source: Primal
Key Abilities: Strength, Constitution, Dexterity

Armor Proficiencies: Cloth, Leather, Hide, Chainmail, Scale
Weapon Proficiencies: Simple melee, military melee, simply ranged, military ranged
Bonus to Defense: +2 Fortitude

Hit Points at 1st Level: 18 + Constitution score
Hit Points per Level Gained: 7
Healing Surgers per Day: 10 + Constitution modifier

Trained Skills: Intimidate. From the class skills list below, choose three more trained skills at 1st level,
Class Skills: Athletics (Str), Endurance (Con), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Nature (Wis), Perception (Wis).

Barbarian Class Features

Barbarian Rage

Once per encounter a barbarian can fly into a screaming blood frenzy. In your rage you enter special combat stances, such as beserker’s wrath or whirling frenzy. Some barbarians learn other uses for this feature; rage feats grant characters with access to the Barbarian Rage feature the ability to use additional powers.
Regardless of how many different uses for Barbarian Rage you know, you can only use one such ability per encounter. The special power you invoke work just like your other powers.

Barbarian Tenacity

Whenever you expend a healing surge, you also gain temporary hit points equal to your Constitution modifier.

Powerful Built:

You can use two-handed weapons of your size or one size larger than you as if they were your size and you can wield an one-handed weapon in your off hand as if it were an off-hand weapon.

War Howl

The fury of a barbarian against those who seek to harm his allies is fearsome. You can use the war howl power against enemies that try to hurt your allies.
Barbarian Powers

Your barbarian powers are called rites. Several powers favor either a two-handed weapon style or a two weapon style. The powers here also introduce a new keyword: rage.
Rage: Powers with the rage keyword can only be used while under the effect of Barbarian Rage, Each time you use a power with the rage keyword, you lose a number of hit points equal to your Constitution modifier

The barbarian has two class features that work like powers: barbarian rage and war howl. They are presented below.

Barbarian Rage: Whirling Frenzy

Trigger: You hit an enemy with an attack
Effect: You spend a healing surge but regain no hit points. Instead, you gain a +1 power bonus to your speed and a +2 power bonus to your Reflex defense. Once per round and while wielding two melee weapons, you can use your off-hand weapon to make a basic melee attack with a -2 penalty against a marked enemy you hit using a melee attack power.

Attack: Constitution vs. Will
Hit: The target is dazed until the end of your next turn.
Effect: You mark the target. The target remains marked until the end of your next turn. While a target is marked, it takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls for any attack that doesn’t include you as a target. A creature can be subject to only one mark at a time.

I really like what I'm seeing here. Some pretty novel ideas here. I like War Cry especially for the marking ability. I'll definitely get this playtested.

I am considering adding another basic Rage ability to improve upon the Intimidate aspect of the class. Charisma attacks would lag behind without a weapon or implement otherwise.

Effect: You gain a +2 power bonus to your Fortitude Defense and a +1 power bonus to all barbarian Charisma attacks. You gain a +5 power bonus on Intimidate checks against marked enemies.
Incease that power bonus to barbarian Charisma attacks to +2 at 6th level, +3 a 11th level, +4 at 16th level, +5 at 21st level and +6 at 26th level.
