An open "Thank you" to Erik Mona

You've done a fine job, and your work on Dungeon convinced me to subscribe, and your tenure at Dragon has convinced me to renew a subscription that I had otherwise been intending to drop previous to your takeover. Nothing is perfect, but I like what you've been doing and I appreciate your willingness to post here and get feedback from folks. That's classy.

I will join in the chorus with a heart-felt, "You've been doing a bloody great job, man!"

I appreciate your every effort for the magazines and their readership, including being so frequently available to answer questions and confront criticism.

I am aware that there may seem to have been too much of the latter lately, but don't let the buggers grind you down, eh! :D

I'm loooooving Dungeon (especially the Greyhawk goodies ;) and the good stuff you've been putting in Dragon lately have me seriously thinking of resubscribing.

Now, I'm aware that the magazines are a joint effort, so I don't want to leave out James Jacobs, etc. but as editor in chief, I'm reserving the highest praise for you.

Cheers,
Colin

Erik,

Let’s just get this out of the way: Thank you.

Over the last couple of days, I have witnessed many people on this board, and on Paizo’s, publicly lambaste you for the removal of the Wil Save column and the continued inclusion of Downer.

Um... yeah. Thanks Erik.

I too have to say very fine job and one of the many reason I have kept my subscription even if I don't run the adventures as is or like everything. You can't make everyone happy and not everyone will find everything useful or likable, but that is the nature of things.

To Erik and all the staff at Paizo -- Thank you and keep up the good work.

RD

Just a quick pre-emptive note that this thread is about saying 'thank you' and if anyone has a burning urge to moan, find another thread to do it in. This one is going to stay on-topic.

Regards,

I would like to add that I received a subscription to Dungeon for Christmas and it's great, I just subscribed to Dragon because I expect it to be just as great.

I also liked Wil Saves but understand that the writer was likely to have left the column eventually anyway. I wish him well in his reorienting his life.

Erik has been doing a fantastic job and I hope to see it continue.

I'll join the chorus of Thank You's to Erik. He impresses me as one of the most genuine, up-front gaming folks around... and always keen on improving Dragon/Dungeon in line with reader feedback.

I've been a Dungeon subscriber for several years now, and the magazine has improved hugely in that time. The loss of Polyhedron was a shame, but I primarily buy Dungeon for the adventures. Dollar-for-dollar, my Dungeon sub is the best money I can possibly spend on gaming gear.

I don't have a Dragon sub, but I buy an issue every now and then. Again, my observation is that the mag continues to improve. The intermittent Demonicon of Iggwilv articles (Pazuzu, etc) make those issues "must buys", and the upcoming support for the new Dungeon adventure path is also very attractive.

Again, you have done a great job with the magazine. First of all, I don't subscribe to magazines too often. I subscribed to the popular stuff like Rolling Stones and Time but it was more of just for occasional reading and house filler. When i was approached with subscribinb to the magazine at Gencon 2003 I didn't even give ita second thought. It wasn't until 2004 during a nice freebie marketing campaign that I got to peak inside the magazine and found the content very useful. I subscribed in January and plan on renewing my subscription at Gencon 2005.

You're making some bold positive moves which I"ve enjoyed and found useful. Suggesting something like Wil Save truly shows you got grit, because its not like anythng before it. Sticking with it was great too considering, from the Paizo boards, this issue has been something for months.

You've done a great job and your editing choices may come under scritinty but that's the nature of this business. I remember in one of my first journalism classes my teacher said, are you guys ready for a career of low pay and low thanks. NO ones ever going to like everything but so long as advertisers keep coming and subscribers keep renewing then you're doing a good job.

I guess I'll throw in my heartfelt agreement that Erik is doing a great job.

I used to snag the occasional "Dungeon" from the game store, if it seemed to have something interesting in the issue. Now, I am a very happy subscriber due to the great work Erik and the "Dungeon" staff have done, not to mention the wonderful support for Greyhawk. In fact, my wife is supposed to be getting me a subscription to "Dragon" for father's day. :)

Keep up the good work Erik, and keep on keeping Greyhawk accessible to the masses.

Jay

I am enjoying Dungeon more then ever. Erik's doing a great job, and it's too bad the loud and obnoxious, internet bully minority is causing trouble.
