An open "Thank you" to Erik Mona

Thanks for all the hard work Erik, it is appreciated!

I'd also like to take a moment to thank all the other great people who work on Dragon and Dungeon. People like Jeremy Walker, Jason Buhlman, Keith Strohm, Lisa Stevens, and others who work very hard and receive very little credit from the community. A big thanks to all of you guys!

During my past ten years in the gaming industry, I have worked with some of the most talented and dedicated gaming professionals in various disciplines on many high profile brands. Erik Mona stands, without a doubt, among the top of that short list. He is a man of deep passion and deeper vision, whose love for Dungeons & Dragons is overshadowed only by his ability to create amazing magazines and juggle the often-times competing demands of business and art.

Erik has assembled an amazing team of individuals who work their tails off to produce the best magazines in this industry. I have tasked them all with some pretty difficult objectives, and they have risen to the challenge every time.

If I had to storm hell, their are only a few people I would take with me, but you can be damn sure that Erik Mona would stand among them. He is a great colleague and a friend, and I look forward to the continuing impact he will have on our hobby and this industry.

P.S. Just giving a shout out to my peeps, yo!

P.P.S. Erik, stop reading this thread and put your legs back in the shackles that keep you at your desk.

Well, considering I just re-upped my subscription for the next three years, I guess there's SOMETHING I like about the magazine. :) Erik seems to be doing a great job. I got back into Dragon one issue before the rerelease and I really like the changes. Sure I've whinged about this or that, but never anything major. The articles just keep getting better. Ya got my money, I can't think of higher praise than that to a publisher.

Really good work. What was good has gotten better under your leadership. Thanks.

But...you need to make some more MnM books. At least make someone make some more MnM books. :]

Erik,

You're a great editor in chief and a great writer. The magazines have done well under your leadership and I look forward to reading every issue. You and Wil had a tough decision to make, and ultimately you both did what you thought was best for the magazine. No one can fault either of you for that. I look forward to the next issue.

Erik---

Regardless of what happens with Wil Save or any other columns you do or don't fold/spindle/mutilate in order to reforge Dungeon and Dragon into the magazines that they were in their heyday, I am renewing my subscriptions to both magazines because of YOU.

Your leadership and vision keep me interested, and the performance of your team and the writers you bring to the table keep me coming back for more. Your love for Greyhawk is tied to your love for playing D&D the way it should be, and I'm right there with you. If I had any doubts (and I do always consider the cost of renewing my subscription to the magazines when it comes time to do so, since it's not inexpensive), Dungeon 124 certainly removed them.

Keep up the good work, and keep pushing the envelope. Soon you'll be publishing issues which approach the coolness of such towering classics as The Dragon 37 and Dragons 69 and 76. If you keep it up, you may well surpass them....

here! here!

One of my subscriptions just came up towards expiration, and I though money is tight, I didn't hesitate to resubscribe.

I was sceptical when Erik first talked about some of the changes he had planned for both magazines, but figured I would reserve judgement.

Thus far, I have been pleased with almost every decision.

I'm not crazy about Downer, as I've said elsewhere, and I really hope that Class Acts never stops, but no magazine is ever going to be perfect.

I'm excited to see every issue of both Dragon and Dungeon in my mailbox every month or so, and I'm usually glad that it's not me that has Erik's job, because I wouldn't do nearly as good a job as he does, and I would have a hard time not internalizing the inevitable complaints and criticisms.

My sentiments exactly!
From the first issue to the present, all of the editors have done a great job on Dungeon. Erik is one of them and he's doing a fantastic job! :D

Of Erik's (& James Jacobs, etc) new improvements, I especially love the "Adventure Path" concept. I'm even more excited about the new Age of Worms. I also think it's amazing that Erik manages to pull in "name" adventure writers with regularity (Andy Collins, Sean K Reynolds, Mike Mearls, etc, etc). E.g. A new setting like Eberron comes out, and Erik brings the setting author onboard to write a bunch of adventures. Groovy! I love all the big pull out maps we've had recently, Greyhawk, Isle of Dread, etc. And the "Backdrop" concept like the Isle of Dread mini-setting is a cool idea too, especially because it brought back a classic location. And of course having Erik as editor means we will always have new Greyhawk material to look forward to. Perhaps the best thing about Erik as editor is that it's really great to see a D&Der achieve success, rising from a superfan like Iquander, to hold an important job in the gaming industry. Thank you and bravo!
