Anachronisms in Fantasy

Yeah, it is. You're saying that everyone who enjoys Eberron is guilty of "destroying the mythic resonance" of D&D.
No I'm not, I'm saying that I think it's poor design. Or, if you prefer, design not to my liking, and I've argued my case on why I think that.
Add it to the fact that you've basically hijacked a thread where someone wanted anachronisms in his game, and you're basically telling him "you're playing the game wrong".
What if I were to suggest that you simply don't like the cut of my jib, so you're resorting to messageboard etiquette nitpicking (maybe later we'll move on to calls of "troll"), similarly to the semantics nitpicking earlier, rather than actually discussing. It's weak.
So, if that's not rude, what is?
Arguing a point you don't like on a discussion board, clearly.

Glech. What I don't get is how people can find a culture that makes practical use of magic jarring, but have no problem with a ten thousand year old civilization that has made no technological progress.

That's sort of the opposite of the high tech angle a lot of people are talking about but I do agree with it. I find fantasy histories where nothing happens for thousands of years to be unbelievable.
