D&D 5E And the backgrounds are...

From the Adventurer's League player's guide, there's a list of backgrounds:
Acolyte
Charlatan
Criminal
Entertainer
Folk Hero
Guild Artisan
Hermit
Noble
Outlander
Sage
Sailor
Soldier
Urchin

That's 13 in total. Most are pretty obvious, but "outlander" is a bit of an odd duck.

So what profiencies do you forumites think each background will get?

For Sailor water vehicles is pretty obvious, and like would be a gaming set or language, and Athetics, Intimidate, Survival, and Nature are possible skills. Just an example.

I am the only one who thinks 13 are way too few? This seems to be probably the innovation and the stronger feature of the 5e character creation. It is pity to have only 13 default choices.
Of course anyone can make one, but is good to have more for lazy characters and dms.

Well, at least one of thouse, Criminal, has an alternate background as spy.

At least three of them, Criminal, Soldier and Sage, have 8 Sub Backgrounds they split down into as well.

I mean, you look at Sage sub-backgrounds: Alchemist, Astronomer, Discredited academic, Librarian, Professor, Researcher, Wizard’s apprentice and Scribe. That's not bad going in terms of character ideas.

I agree with you that there are too few. I think that the examples we have seen (e.g., Criminal and Soldier) should have been broken down into more specific backgrounds.
