Angel 11-12-03 (SPOILERS INSIDE!)

Yeah, to begin with I did think the sceptre was stealing Angel's soul. Angelus in charge of W&H? Ugh. :) But it would have been too soon after it happened last time.

Truthfully, I never doubted that the plot would fail, so it would have been better as a soul sucker. More threat. :)

What if the cyborgs work for another branch of W&H? The Senior Partners might be unhappy with the way Angel is running things, so they send some operatives from the another branch to take control of him. Maybe they have always had a mole in the Watchers council, and that's how they got the informatin on Wesley's father.

That's how they could have found Angel in the first place, from Giles' reports. They wouldn't be interested in the Slayer per se, because Slayers are so replaceable, but the mole would have been planted just to hear about vamps with souls. I realize that Gunn's line about them killing demon's doesn't support this theory, but it would be interesting.

Or, as someone else suggested, it could be renegade Watchers, after all, that's not an unprecedented occurance.

I briefly thought of the Initiative, but I don't see how they would have gotten the info on Papa Wyndam-Price.

I guess we'll all just have to wait until Joss let's us in on the secret.

Tauric, W&H is my guess, too: they're the only villains on the show devious enough to have planned everything to go just the way it went.

ok, so i finally watched this weeks Angel. (hey, sue me, ive been busy sleeping..i still havent seen MAtrix Revolutions and I'm ALWAYS there on opening night)

clamor clamor clamor

do you hear it?

CLAMOR CLAMOR CLAMOR

that's me...clamoring for the Initiative.

Since both shows do take place in the same universe, it only makes sense that the other large "GOOD" organizations might try to take down Wolfram & Hart. Since any viewer can understand the concept of "top secret military paranormal fighting agency" they dont qualify as being too buffy-centric.

Plus, his return with his "wife" aside, Riley rocked on toast.
Catering to the fan-girls who couldnt get over Angel and writing Riley out off the show was poor. Riley was a great character.
And now that I think abou tit, I hated his wife so much and she was ooo stiff that I though SHE was a robot. Maybe she was a ninja robot prototype.

As for this episode, lets see why it was the best episode of the season.

1> Wesley did something. Finally. And it was cool. Wesley is THE character on Angel (like Willow is on Buffy) When Wesley does nothing, the show suffers.

2> Gunn fought. Who cares he used to just be the second fighter. Can a D&D group not have two fighter-types? Gunn is a much better character when he retains his street cred.

3> Instead of villain of the week, we got an episode that wasnt wrapped up in a bow, these guys will be back.

and of course

4> NINJA ROBOTS. but you knew this already.

The more I think about it, the more I think it's not going to be the Initiative. Why?
1) Their schtick seems to be drug-hyped humans, not cyborgs, and their fighting style is paramilitary, not ninja.
2) They've got a tried-and-true method for capturing vampires, involving hot taser action. Why would they vary this technique?
3) Last we heard, they were in Central America. Okay, maybe they're back.
4) This just doesn't mesh with their previous attacks. I could see them doing a huge raid to take W&H down entirely, but I can't see them working so hard just to extract one vampire from the place.
5) Finally, I'm not sure we ever saw the Initiative using magic; these guys seemed very well versed in arcane lore.

If it is the initiative, they've changed so much as to be almost unrecognizeable.

Anyone remember "Half-Life",the fantastic FPS by Valve, released November -98? Remember those Ninjas? Cool stuff, really tough opponents. The ninja robots reminded me quite a bit about them :D .
