Angel 2-25-04 - I'm confuzzled. (spoilers)

A) Probably, if they'd had more than a few minutes between the time they discovered that they couldn't call the demon back from where she was and the time she died. Even the "really good" W&H jet took four hours to make the trip.

B) Sure, but a single dangerous being is still easier to deal with than tens or hundreds of thousands of people dying outright. A creature can be stopped.

But it's an Old One! I think that's supposed to be important! :p

The episode was obviously on Drama Time, no matter how long the trip would take, it was perfectly timed for the event planned. So, when earlier they figured that they had days, and it turns out they had hours, it was just drama time.

But, they didn't even think of it. Angel & Spike didn't make a call to see, they just go about their business.

I wonder what the Area of Effect was for the demon. If they did it low enough, wouldn't the demon be sucked underground, bypassing folks?
Could they have brought Fred to a basement?

They seemed to think of it as a binary solution. Save Fred and Kill Folks or Fred Dies and Folks live. But it's an old one, and has some powers to reckon with if the previews are accurate...

I dunno. Wolfram and Hart have the medical technology to graft a new hand on Lindsay months after he lost his old one. It doesn't surprise me at all to find out they have superfast jets too.

Besides, it gave Angel and Spike time to converse. And time spent raggin on "Les Mis" is never time wasted!
I always thought the W&H's beyond-normal tech was at least partly magical, especially on the medical side.

Henry, the answer is yes and no. Both Buffy and Angel suffered when Joss no longer was as directly involved in writing. And this episode was better because it felt like they were going somewhere. A lot of this season has been futzing around. Going somewhere well, even if it's not a novel plot line, is better than going nowhere well.

I sing in a choir here in Boston, and our director is on sabbatical. Our guest conductor is good, the music for our coming performance is two pieces I've always wanted to do, and our chorus is good. It doesn't feel the same, though. We're still pros. We do our job to the best of our ability. But without the hand that knows us best on the tiller, we're just not at our best.

Is that a good analogy?

And yes, I think the Buffy/Angel universe has done the nice girl goes evil thing a lot, but can you blame them? It's a good hook, and the actresses are having a field day! Playing evil is fun.

Yes you can, because it's now been over done.

I disagree. I have a feeling that this is not simply overdoing things, I think there is a reason for corrupting and killing the 2 most..."innocent" members of the team via possession. It's really one of the worst things an enemy could do to them.

Just because there's a reason for it doesn't mean they haven't gone to the well one to many times.

Of course what annoys me more is the 'have Fred and Wes get together just so we can turn Fred evil (and maybe more)' bit.

I think it would have met more if they had either:

a) Made Fred's waffling in the beginning of the story more pronounced, instead of just being so minor.

b) Let Wesley and Fred be together longer.

Either one of them would have made it more effective.

I'm still in the Wesley/Lilah camp though. Such a shame the actress left the show.

This is the one that wold have made it mean something, though it would have still annoyed me since Whedon has done similar things far to many times already.

It's just like the popular introduce a new character and have them tragically die in the same episode after becoming chummy with the main chacter plot.

Well, they've been doing this for years on TV... usually on police or detective shows. Lead guy (usually) falls in love and a few episodes later the SO is murdered, has a deadly disease, etc.

Just wondering, did anybody read the letter on WB's site from Joss that kinda explains why he written this story line for Fred? Part of it mentions how he did it because Amy Acker is a good actress and the other part is because everybody on Angel cares alot for her... including Spike. Makes some sense and I'm curious to see how it turns out.
