Animal Lord PrC and unlimited healing

That seems like a lot. That's a bunch of extra healing. Shapechange is already a powerful ability and I think granting healing in addition is a little to good.

not nine times your level per day

Yes, but each of those nine times you heal your level in hitpoints. So you can only heal nine times per day, but you do heal nine times your level per day in hitpoints.

By the time you can do this type of shift-healing, clerics are usually casting multiple COMPLETE healing spells per day. What's the big deal here guys? Seriously? I mean, are you running a campaign where your party basically NEVER gets to rest where this ability would actually be THAT powerful? I mean, we do the same thing already in our campaign at level 5... it's called a couple Wands of Cure Light Wounds. ;)

I agree that this ability isn't out of line when the Shifter gets unlimited healing at 15th level, but the Animal Lord can do that for 8th level characters, when I think healing is still somewhat limited. No one wants to spend their money on healing items if they don't have to, and an 8th level party will drain a wand of CLW in a session, if they get in several fights. I don't think the cost of this is trivial yet at that level.

Plus, it just doesn't feel right for the ability to have this effect. The idea behind the ability is that you can turn into your animal, not that you have unlimited healing. I'm pretty sure this is just something that the authors overlooked.

As Zerovoid said. Unlimited healing would be way over the top, but 9 times your level wouldn't be too bad, esp. if you take it as class level (not character level). A Dr5/Animal Lord3 could heal 27 hp/day, which isn't at all overpowered for an 8th lvl character, whereas a Drd5/Shifter10 could do 90 hp/day, which is also accaptable for 15th lvl. Works for me.

Actually, he posted that it was 9 times a day, not 9 times your level. So it caps at the ninth heal, period. And, as has been pointed out, it's really not that massively powerful. Most healing is done as down-time, when it's not nearly as relevant. A party with a cleric of any significant level will experience a similar effect.

Shape-changing in combat is time-consuming, generally, and may not be a good idea, depending on what you're fighting. A powerful ability? Sure. A broken one? I don't think it is.

??? Yes... but each time you heal as if you'd rested for a night. You heal your level in hitpoints each time you rest for the night. So in total that's nine (the number of times you can heal each day) times your level (the amount you heal each time).

Unless you're responding to a completely different post, in which case ignore me :)
