Animals and coup de grace

Berserker King

First Post
If a trained animal was ordered to kill a helpless person, would it use the coup de grace action or just make a normal melee attack at +4?

I ask this question because I was wondering if an animal is smart enough to automatically choose an attack location suitable for a coup de grace. On the other hand, maybe I should consider Wis as the indicator.

Opinions?

It'd expect a predator like a tiger or lion to know how to finnish off a medium-sized creature.

If you want your trained attack ferret to do it, then that's another trick it has to be taught.

What a horrid thought: the Evil Rodent of Death. Go for the eyes, boo, go for the eyes! RAAAAAAASK. :D

Yea, what pontus said: predators use such tactics even IRL, so it's to be expected to do so. And you can train your pet anything you want (The druid in our party taught his dire elephant to step on halflings. At least he didnt't train him to make them burst...:D)
