Animate Breath questions

First Post
I was looking at the Spell Compendium and came across the Sor/Wiz 7 spell Animate Breath. This allows you to turn your breath weapon into a Huge Elemental.

How it works, however, is confusing. It has a duration in rounds/lvl. It requires you to use your breath weapon. It turns your breath weapon energy into a Huge Elemental.

So far, this is not as good a spell as Summon Monster VII - it requires breath weapon use and can only summon one of the creatures on the Summon Monster VII list.

Of course, the spell lasts rounds/level (lets say 15 rounds for a lvl 15 caster) and breath weapons are generally usable every 1d4 rounds. Could you use one casting of Animate Breath to create multiple elementals (for decreasingly short periods of time)?

Also, how does the animated breath react if you use a different swift spell that has an effect on your breath weapon? Would Blinding Breath (cast after Animate Breath) cause the elemental to potentially blind opponents it strikes?

Ummm... thanks.

Seriously, though, was this spell just vaguely written or am I missing something? Casting it is a standard action and the the target is 'your breath weapon' - so preumably it is your undischarged breath weapon...

well, cast as a standard action is better than full round action, I guess?

Sure... but many of the Breath-altering spells are swift actions that are cast as you use your breath weapon.

This one is a standard action, which leads me to wonder if it works on all uses of your breath weapon within the duration. Unfortunately, the spell doesn't appear to say one way or another.
