Any recommended downloadable tools?

I was just wondering if anyone has any specific recommendations for tools that help in world building and dungeon mapping. Currently I have looked around for free tools that work well, but I can't seem to find anything. All help is greatly appreciated by this soon to be DM.

Check the downloads section of this sight for a bunch of good free downloads.

Jamis Buck's dungeon generator is excellent. So are his other generators, but if you're upgrading to 3.5 they won't help you. Anyway, there are tons of cool programs in the downloads area, so just poke around and see what you find.

The generators Mark links to above are excellent. I didn't mention them because you specified free, but if you are willing to spend a few bucks, these products are worth it!

Another program that isn't free, but is worth every penney is Fractal Mapper. It is very easy to use, and the output is quite attractive.
