Any Two Things Sound Alike if You're Vague Enough

We need to frame the argument in such a way that there is a continuum, with anime on one side, and video games on the other, so that the anti-anime crowd will fight the anti-video-game crowd to the death over the future of D&D. And I hereby claim the broadcast rights.

Good luck with that.

Whether you're of the "It's a videogame" crowd, or of the "You don't know what a videogame is" crowd, you can debate or argue without turning into an insulting creep-fest. You're especially good at this Rechan. I haven't agreed with a single opinion of yours since I joined ENworld, but I've gotta respect the way that you treat everyone here.
But I just don't see the OP as insulting. What's insulting about it? That he's poking fun at some of the arguments?

Taking offense at the OP seems oversensitive to me.

Y'know, as long as it was a one-book thing, I would buy a Halo RPG if it was published.

It could sit next to the Buffy RPG and Serenity RPG on the unplayed shelf.

I don't necessarily see the OP as intentionally insulting either. It just seems symptomatic of the casual mockery of other opinions ever since 4E was announced. Taking the time to mock a segment of the community only seems worth the effort if you're trying to alienate people that disagree with you. I'm not a 4E cheerleader, but I'm not taking the time to mock their excitement either, know what I mean?

Or you're trying to make a point that anyone will see what they want to see because right now we've got the vaguest of info to go on.

Yeah, but that goes both ways. I've seen some stuff that seems like it will make the game better ( no flatfooted AC for example) and some stuff that seems like it'll make the game less fun (fighters and rogues being able to "cast spells" seems more like Final Fantasy than D&D) But like someone else here wisely put it, we're like the blind men and the elephant. None of us really knows what the new game will be like in May. Until then, it seems kind of petty and spiteful to mock people just for sharing their initial impressions of the "vaguest of info".

This is a great piece of satire, but I think ENWorld is pretty friendly. This post would be much better on the WotC boards where the irrational 4e haters take it to a whole new level. The amount of vitriol over there is crazy and their mods allow a lot of stuff by that I would be banning people and locking threads over.
