Any word on the next DnD figures?

So DDM is over. Here comes the figures for the DnD player.

What and when exactly? I believe they come out in a few months but I have yet to see any figures or a list of what will be within it.

I was wondering if anyone has any info yet.

These are all supposedly from amazon.com.
They're being discussed in this thread on Hordelings:

And checking that link, looks like a lot of recast old sculpts.

And I agree with the poster over there that the goliath looked better in it's preview with the brown clothing instead of the green shown here.

Hope that these promo images are not the end-all be all and are mock ups.

Are we only getting the three per package, or are there also some randoms hidden in there?
Just three per package, at $11. That's the cost of non-randomness (or so they would want us to think).

BTW, you can easily get at least 11 uncommon quality PC-type miniatures from eBay for $11. If you're lucky, you can probably get twice as many. Even PC-type rares rarely cost more than $4 or so (unless they are really hot for skirmish, which is officially dead now anyway - unless the DDM Guild pulls a miracle).

What? WHAT?!?!

This is what they're changing to?

Are they insane?

Nobody buys the goddamn minis for PC pieces! Everyone I've ever been involved with in the minis community buys them either to play the DDM game or for monsters in their D&D game.

If there are no multi-packs of goblins, orcs and single packs of solo monsters at a reasonable cost, then this is going to be one giant ass flop. I hated random packaging but at least through the second-hand market I could get the minis I wanted. Now I won't even be able to get them?

Seriously idiotic.

Kzach, that was highly entertaining.

Thank you.

Yeah, randomness is eliminated, only for the PC figs mind you, prices have gone up... what, double ish? and the actual paint quality remainds to be determined. Throw in some old figs packaged with new paint jobs and well, I'll be interested in seeing what D&D mins ver 3 is.

Unless these figs are awesome. Unless these shots are mock ups. Unless the paint jobs shown here are not the final paint jobs (which in all honesty are difficult to judge) and unless we don't see a lot more dragon born.

Cost of packaging ...

Being able to see the minis is nice, but sheesh, I don't like thinking about how much plastic is in the packaging, and how much that costs as a percent of the figure costs.

Plus, will stores scream about the amount of shelf space the packages take?
