Paranoia is one of my favorite Convention games. If you go to any of the big Cons, (Gen Con, Origins, etc) just sit down and play it. People don't usually mind teaching you at all.
BTW, beware of Piratecat's adventures! He had the best ending I have ever heard about in Paranoia.
Vampiric clones of the characters chased them through Alpha Complex trying to suck their blood. One of the PCs knew that the mythical "Outside" might hold the key to the vampires' defeat. If only the party could get to the outside!
Through much daring, they finally arrived a wall leading to the outside and broke it open just as the vampiric clones closed in on them.
One of the players (who knows Piratecat well):
(suspiciously) "what time is it outside?..."
Piratecat: (pretends to roll some dice) "it's night... adventure over."
