Anyone Got Tome of Artifacts Yet?

I got mine today, and so far, I'm really impressed.

There are 3 or 4 pages for each artifacts. Unlike artifact books released by some third party publishers of old, the stats are complete and there are few or no unanswered questions. Each has a useful and interesting history section as well as knowledge check results. Each has multiple adventure seeds to involve the item in play, many of them rather... interesting. Finally, each has a few extra goodies that might come in handy running a game with the artifact.

There are many contributing authors and the ideas come from many angles. So far my favorites are the black coal citadel and the crown of ice, though I'll admit I've just started reading through it.

In some ways, this book resembles AEG's Relics in intent and format, but much more attention is paid to each artifact.

The PDF ought to be cheaper, assuming you can stand PDFs.

I have the PDF; I like it. I've seen a few things I'm tempted to use soon -- I just have to figure out which (it would be a bit overkill to have more than a couple of those things in one campaign at a time -- some of the could be the basis for a whole campaign individually).

Over at Amazon, I figure it to work out around $47 (AUD), shipped. Unfortunately, you'd apparently have to wait until at least May the 30th just for them to ship the thing. . . and then it's a fairly long wait again [using the cheapest, hence slowest shipping method]. If you're not a fan of Amazon, or of waiting, then fair enough. But I've found them to be fine to shop from, occasionally. Just an idea.

Conversion rates are pretty good, that way round, currently. That's mainly why I thought I'd mention it.

Great book. Got mine the other week. Lots of meaty background and some really sweet ideas, plus a big fat appendix to help you design your own. Good stuff!
