Anyone remember Melee?

Fascinating. I never played Melee or Wizard, but remember Ogre fondly and the original CarWars.

I also remember a really fun non-SJG board/card game called WizWar that was so hilarious I was constantly shooting Coke out my nose while playing. I need to find a copy of that some day ...

Perhaps we should just storm SJC headquarters and demand a new printing and support!

I once asked Steve Jackson to sign my copies of AM,AW, and ITL - I was suprised at the hostility of his reaction. Later he appologised and said that the subject was "touchier than a bad divorce."

Odd bit of personal trivia.

In the original (pocket game version) of Wizard there are playtest credits to a "House Thornwell" and a couple of oddly named individuals. When I saw this, I thought, "Hey, that's kind of cool. These folks were so into the game they gave their group a cool name and gave the credit to their characters."

Some years later, when I joined the SCA in San Antonio, I found out that House Thornwell was actually a group of local SCAers and the odd names were all those of their SCA personas (At the time he designed Melee and Wizard, Mr Jackson was the titular head of the local group in Austin).

A number of said folks were part in the longest-running D&D campaign I personally knew of. I don't remember if I told their story here or just on RPGnet.
