I was at my parent's house the other day and I still had a shelf or so of RPG books there, including a dozen or so WEG Star Wars books. I grabbed the lot of them and started reading through some of the them again.

Does anyone still play the WEG d6 SW?

What an awesome system: fast and easy to learn, highly resistant to powergaming, no hp's, all skill-based, and really captures the feel of the movies.

I guess I really hadn't looked at these books in a while because they had a lot of nostalgia for me. They also made me realize how different it is to the d20 system. The d6 system has everything that I don't like about d20: no static AC, no hp's, no accountant needed to calculate all the modifiers, etc. Maybe I'm just going through d20 burnout right now, I don't know.

I want to play d6 Star Wars again. :\

No, but I'd love to, given the chance.

I had a lot of fun with that system, and when I sold the books to make room for more stuff I was half hoping nobody on eBay would want it so I'd have an excuse for keeping it.

The section on writing adventures was beautiful - take one chase, one starship combat, one ground combat, one roleplaying incident, one puzzle, mix them together in the order that seems best and you have a space opera.

I only had two books, so I don't know if the various other sourcebooks etc. over-complicated things.

I loved that system. I think it does convey a better "feel" for the movies (or at least the three movies I consider canonical :) ) than the level based system. It allows for a really fast and easy style of play.

Friends of mine play in a regular campaign still using the d6 rules and love it. They tried the d20 system for a while, but didn't enjoy it and switched back. I think they've played SW campaigns on and off for about ten years now. The GM running it has massive amounts of style with his storytelling. I'd probably try to play in their group, if only I enjoyed Star Wars games...

Sadly, no. I loved that system. I have been tempted to get WEG's new D6 Fantasy for a change of pace from D20 D&D.
I guess my old gaming group back home still plays a regular D6 Star Wars game, I should get in touch with them again . . . if only it wasn't an 18 hour drive to see them.

If I had to, I would. I've still got all my old d6 books, so its not like I couldn't...but the d20 Star Wars system is miles and miles better, ESPECIALLY with Jedi involved. I'm not sure I could ever force myself to go back and play a d6 game with Jedi in it...
