D&D 5E AoE vs. Single-Target Spells

This is a good thread for me, because I'm trying to build in a Warlock class feature that allows them to convert any one-target damaging cantrip into a mini-AoE (5' radius of target). With the goal of making more cantrips to be interesting choices and removing Eldritch Blast as their defining cantrip they always use.

The real question is how many single Target spells exist vs aoe spells exist ?

Then how many first levels spells are outclassed by cantrips quickly (example which bolt)

From what I seen there are more aoe options then Single target options and quite a few are underwhelming compared to the aoe
