[April] What are you reading?

Currently I'm reading Olympos the second in the Illium series. It reworks the Illiad and Trojan War into a strange sci-fi future with god-like(Greek God-Like specifically) post-humans. And a good mix of humor, tongue-in-cheek, and Holy Crap moments.

I also just finished cataloguing all my books. 533 not counting about 2 dozen that are so old they have no ISBN and I'll have to enter by hand.

I just finished the Rule of Four a very good book.
I finished that about three weeks ago. I enjoyed it as well.

I have Shadowmarch and Shadowplay by Tad Williams on the back burner
Ditto for me too, the hardbacks just arrived this past week. But I just jumped into Gene Wolfe's Shadow and Claw (first two if the Urth of the New Sun series), though I must admit, it is hard getting started on that one. My job has been killing me...

I just started the new Harry Dresden book White Night. I was also reading a couple of the Stargate SG1 and Atlantis novels.

They are quite good. The writers have a good feel for the characters.

I just burned through all three of the Takeshi Kovacs novels by Richard K. Morgan (starting with Altered Carbon). These are excellent cyberpunk novels. I thought that the genre had pretty much played out, but Morgan resurrects it (or should I say, "resleeves it"). In particular, Altered Carbon is also a great film noir detective story.

"How Few Remain" by Harry Turtledove. The book presumes that in 1862 the Confederate's allies of England and France pressured Lincoln into granting the Confederacy their independence. It is now twenty years later and the Confederacy's expansion into territory that had been owned by Mexico as well as unresolved tensions from before have sparked a second war between the states.

That one is one I'd like to read. I started Ilium, but quickly realized that with my work schedule I need to go buy a copy so I can take my time getting through it. Same thing happened with the Saga of Seven Suns, I knew the timeframe the library expected me to be able to get through it was just unreasonable.

I borrowed an omnibus from the library that contains the first three Elric novels. I started it on the train this morning, and so far so good!

Some old Captain America comics, Mark Waid writes a good Cap.

Heretics of Dune.

Orpheus: Crusade of Ashes.

Addendum, since I finished the Orpheus book I've moved onto Exalted: The Lunars 2nd ed.
