Arcane Hierophant

Just take some craft feats and spend your exp at level 15 on creating magic items. You'll never hit level 16, so you'll never have to retire :)
Yeah, they've thought of that. Even if you die a lot to stop "retirement" the Triad can always call "Shenanigans!" and retire your character early. :)

It's RPGA Living Greyhawk, so character retirement occurs instantly at level 16. I think I would take all my AH first (for the Wildshape advancement) and add MT later.
Note that the AH PrC has a BAB requirement of +4. This means you will need a Drd 4/Wiz 3 or a Drd 3/Wiz 4 before you can start taking AH levels. That's why I would personally take 2 levels of MT after Drd 3/Wiz 3 to meet the BAB requirement while advancing spellcasting for both classes before taking AH levels.

As I have met some of the Triad from Highfolk, I think they would aprove of the class (especially in a region dominated by elves). However, not more than a few hours ago, I had a discussion with some RPGA types from Geoff, and the rumbling is the class is overpowered and likely to meet the restricted/banned list in the future. The word is there are a lot of players going for this combination, and the RPGA is likely to see that as broken.

I'll welcome this. As it stands, the class is just insane, nothing short of MDJ or a Reciprocal Gyre is able to deal with the companion. Even GDM is unlikely to strip away all the buffs a companion familiar typically carries, just through sheer probability. Although I will say that the real problem is Beastmaster, with its non-prerequisites and ridiculous Cherry-Pickability.

While we often make fun of him for "playing a tiger with a druid companion" the character is quite effective overall.

I know one LG player is praying that the Metaorg update comes with a conversion so he can ditch his Arcane Hierophant levels. He's so damn sick of playing his Ape, with his character as a delivery system for the companion. He's effective, but so BORING.

I think the Arcane Hierophant PrC is one of the more powerfull ones out there. I've been playing more LG-RPGA since my home group hasn't been meeting as often as it used to.

I was going to start a character that would aim for Arcane Hierophant, but it seemed that so many players were going for exactly that PrC that I decided against that and decided to straight wizard.

Ah, good point.

But I will still probably avoid MT since I want to get to the Wildshape fun as early as possible (especially since it's LG and I'll have to retire as soon as I hit level 16). I'm planning on Druid4, Wiz3, then AH, so I'll be getting Wildshape at my first AH level (level 8). If I go MT before AH, I don't get Wildshape until I'm level 9.

But, jeez, those MT levels look attractive for the caster level advancement! :)
