Starfinder [Arcanum of the Stars] "Dragonstarfinder"

Very rough draft of a Starfinder Beguiler class. I dunno though. Still feels off.

I do think 6+Int would work better for skills. For comparison check out the Mystic. The Technomancer uses Intelligence as a primary stat, so they reduced the skill points with the assumption that they'd have a large modifier. For the non-Intelligence spellcaster, they increased the base skill points to make up the difference. That philosophy seems appropriate for Beguilers as well.
Sounds okay to me. Make it 6 + Int. More skills for the class will be handy since its spellcasting will only go up to 6th level.

Plus, add in some bonus feat options starting at 4th level, and again at 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th and 19th. These bonus spells can be used to take Beguiler Feats or Technology Guide feats that we convert, if required.

Mention of bonus feats reminds me...what feats, if any, can be imported from Pathfinder...or would you prefer to stick to Starfinder feats?

For your class, you can use converted SF versions of the Beguiler feats from the PDF. Plus, the feats from the Technology Guide. Other than those two sources, let's not go crazy for your PC right now.

The main concern would be finding PF feats that could replace existing Forgotten Realms feats. That will be important, which is why the converted FR feats in that thread over on Giant in the Playground will be used. If something doesn't work right, we'll fix it as we go.

Yar, not going to go crazy. Just trying to wrap my head around changes in character concept.

Converting to Pathfinder meant some of Silhouette's reliance on magic for heavy lifting changed, and she became a bit more roguelike with Wraith Strike being similar to sneak attack, and using feats like Arcane Strike, Arcane Blast and Arcane Shield to give her combat options in situations where Beguiler spells weren't useful.

If those feats aren't available, I'll have to re-envision her again, which is fine. I'm just trying to find some solid ground I can use to start building actual stats on.

Would abilities like Stygian Step and Wraith Strike be candidates for 'Beguiler Tricks,' I wonder...seems like they might in some form or another. Hm.

Huh. You know, I never really noticed before, but is it just me that armor at high levels really REALLY outpaces hit bonuses?

Like, a character who's 14th level and has a non-soldier BAB progression and a good attack stat of 18 will be rolling like...+14. Maybe +15 or +16 if they have a bonus from magic or technology.

Leven 14 Light armor has an EAC and/or KAC bonus in the high teens, like +17 through +19...and allows Dexterity of +6 or +8. That equates to EAC/KAC scores in the low 30's. You've got like a 1 in 4, or 1 in 5 chance to hit that, all other factors being equal.

Am I missing something intrinsic here? I feel like I must be.
