Yes, you're attacking with melee weapons, not pure ranged weapons like bows, so Power Attack applies.

Please read the first sentence of the feat I posted right after the nice word "Benefits:". The damage applies to all melee damage rolls.

Throwing things is not melee damage, even if you throw melee weapons. I didn't care to look up that definition, but it should be somewhere in the beginning of the combat chapter in the PHB.
