I've been looking at some of the cmapaign planners that are on rpgnow.com. I'm wondering if any of them are worth it, and if so which ones would you recommend? Thanks ahead of time.

I make my own on MS Word, and the main reason I do is because I still can't find a non-digital planner that really gives me the info I want at my fingertips. I don't own a laptop, and so paper is the only planner idea I can use.

Phil's Campaign Planner series is pretty good. But really, it depends on what you want and need. Phil's books help you get organized and running. IF you deviate significantly from core races & classes, they won't be quite as easy to use. If you already have strong organizational skills, you might find that making your own is preferable.

But if you are haphazard about your campaign, the planner books might help you bring it all back under control. You could organize things together and begin putting together a campaign reference using the planners.

It really depends on what you are looking for though. Is there something specific you are looking to address by using a campaign planner?

Exactly. I see there's no need for me to be here. :)

If there are some specific expectations I can give some detailed information.

I have banned halflings, modified gnomes, and marginalized half-breeds. I've also added hobgoblins as a major PC race, along with trolls (not RAW, think Vikings), yeti, and whisper gnomes. Multiple nations of elves, dwarves, and hobgoblins exists and are nearly as spread out as human nations. The paladin, cleric, and sorcerer are gone but I've added about half of the "Complete" classes, along with the XPH classes, the artificer, and two homebrew classes (priest and noble).

I'm guessing the planners won't be of much use to me. Is that likely true?

Not true at all. With so many changes to your campaign the Campaign Planners will help you a lot.

Fill out the custom races and classes forms and distribute copies to your players. Plus there are a lot of campaign-specific forms -- such as cities, towns, weather, gods -- that don't depend so much on the mechanics.

Hmmm...not sure, I have been wanting to run an Iron Kingdoms game, is the Campaign planner worth it for published settings?. I've read the description of the planner , just wondering if it's worth the $5...but then again it is only $5.
